Simple solution if you're not happy with your power clean technique...
I heard from one of the coaches from my Oly course that they are probably going to have a second visit to Chiang Mai. So come to that, do the 2-day workshop then the 3-day USAW level I certification, I am sure they will iron out any technique issues! (In case you missed the discussion in my log, the coaches are really legit- Mark Canella.) And, you know, being in Chiang Mai doesn't suck that much.
I would absolutely love to spend some time in Thailand and CM again, and not just for the oly course (as a matter of fact, it makes zero sense to fly all the way to Thailand if taking an oly course the my main reason to do so, considering I live in Greece). Unfortunately, I'm all tried up with school and work for the time being, arms and legs. Hopefully I'll make my way down there again at some point in the future.

Have a few decent Oly lifters in Greece, do they? Well, I never.

Cool to see that you did some kickboxing training. Is that going to become a regular thing?
It's probably not going to become a frequent thing, but hopefully it will become regular. For this semester, my goal is to get in one "real" kick boxing session per week (not much, but still a 100% increase from what I've been doing in the last few years).

Who'da thunk it.
If I stay here after summer and I want to do some more serious work on my oly lifting, joining a club could be a possibility. We'll see.

Power Cleans
80 x 2/2
85 x 1/1
90 x 1/1
95 x 1/1/x
90 x 1/1/x/1
Squats (low-bar)
140/160/170 x 1
160 x 5 x 3
Front Squats (semi-paused)
120 x 5 x 3
Good Mornings
110 x 10 x 3
...an hour later at the commercial gym:
Seated Single-leg Leg Curls
35 x 10 x 4
Standing Single-leg Calf Raises
BW x 18 x 5
Ab-wheel Rollouts
30 x 20 x 3
BB Shrugs (DOH)
130 x 10
145 x 10 x 4
Power cleans 90 kg; even through they were a bit slow, form felt pretty decent for a change. During the 95 reps it felt like I ran out of gas. Even missed a rep at 90. Not really upset, considering I was happy to get some reps with that looks to me like resembling decent form. Took a 15 min break to just lie down, relax and gather my wits for the rest of the workout.
Squats were hard. And slow. And hard.
First time trying to pause front squats, never realized it made that much of a difference. The pauses felt to me like they were lasting for ever, but upon reviewing the video evidence I barely paused them at all. In miaou's mind: "pausing the shit out of this biatch". What really happened: "barely any pause at all".
The rest was hard. Last set of rollouts was particularly hard.
6 hours sleep last night. Workout started ~8:30 am. Today is one of those exceedingly rare days were I have no noticeable myoskeletal pain anywhere.
Power cleans (from 85 kg on), squats (170 single and 160 sets), last front squat set and last good morning set:
The dude who came to spot me in the first squat set was the owner of the place (and my employer). Translation of what I told him: "go away, go away!"
Pausing front squats felt much harder than pausing back squats. When pausing back squats it just feels like you lose the bounce and have to drive all the way through. Pausing those front squats made it fucking hard to maintain posture (I don't get that issues with paused back squats).
Those are not oly shoes, btw. They are simple/cheap adidas martial arts shoes (pretty similar to these), soles are completely flat (and incompressible). I stick in these (they are incompressible and raise the heel by 1.5 cm) whenever I do front squats.
