How good was bad rutten?

Back in his day how good was he ? Was he ever revered to the best fighter in his division at any point.. I've seen very few highlight videos or full fights from him and I've always seen from these boards that he is very respected

U mean Bas Rutten (title had Bad Rutten). He was def a good stand up striker with power. He was regarded as one of the best in his division back then...But he lost to (prime) Ken Shamrock twice.

I don't think he had any losses that he didn't avenge other than Ken Shamrock. He was fairly well rounded for the time and finished almost all of his fights. He was probably the best HW of his time.

Very good for his era. He started off as almost a strictly standup fighter who eventually became pretty good on the ground. He was fairly well-rounded by the time his career ended, and was particularly well-rounded for the period in which he fought.

Bad Rutten was really rotten.

Pancrase absolutely does NOT count.

Stupid moon boots and no punching to the head does not equal MMA.
