Score two for Georgia

Quote:
On Monday at 2 PM in Room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building next to the Capitol in Atlanta, pro-gun bills HB 28 and 29 will be heard before the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.

HB 28 and 29, both introduced by GGO member and State Representative Charles Gregory (R-Kennesaw), would repeal two government-created Criminal Safe Zones in Georgia.

HB 28 would repeal the government's restriction on carrying firearms in places of worship.

HB 29 would repeal the government's prohibition on carrying on Georgia's college and university campuses.
I hope these are passed. I think that private university campuses would still have the right to ban weapons.

If you live in Georgia get involved.

Good to hear. I always carry a gun at church and sadly churches attract some looney toons from the local community. I don't think the state should be able to limit church carry.

In Louisiana, a private auto is considered an extension of your home for purposes of concealed firearms.

Technically, you can carry a locked and loaded pistol in your console--even on college campuses.

However, you can't park in a permit lot with a gun in your car, because it is a violation of the terms that you have to agree to to get a decal.

Why exactly do you want to be able to carry a gun into a church or a college campus?

Think like a mass shooter for a minute. What attributes would you look for in a place to go on your shooting spree? Perhaps someplace where no one will have a gun? That tops my list.

Prohibiting guns in certain places paints a target on those places for potential shooters.

While I do not have a concealed carry permit, knowing that someone might is a deterrent.

I just found out that being military I can apply for a CCW in Florida. It is one of the most widely honored CCWs by other states.

Many mass shooters kill themselves after their shooting spree anyways. How exactly would armed civilians be a deterrent in this case? It might make it not quite as bad, but there is no guarantee. I think most mass shooters are only looking for places with tons of people in close proximity.

I'm not against guns. I just think it's odd you would be happy about guns now being allowed in places like this.

Okay let me ask you this. Let's think tactically here. You plan to kill a bunch of people. Unless you have a huge vendetta against cops I highly doubt you will go into a police station where everyone is armed. Also unless it was a suicide mission and that was your intention. No you want to kill everyone before killing yourself. So you go to a place where no one is armed. I fail to understand why you cannot make the connection. If they just wanted to kill themselves then they would just do it in their home. They want to hurt others first.

I would bet that they don't, for the most part, hit up "gun free zones" by accident or because there happens to be a lot of people there. They know they will be able to carry out their plans without resistance.

The college I go to right now has police on campus but after going thru some drills recently I felt very helpless knowing I couldn't have my firearm with me to protect myself or others in case of a mass shooting situation.

Anyway this type of discussion is meant for the WR.

I read that Arkansas just made it legal to carry at college campuses. Good for them.
