Nice to see that Fedor still has a lot of support on this forum. Let's keep it civil though. Badmouthing other fighters or posters only weakens arguments I think.
Although.. that guy is kind of a douche, so I get it lol

Babalu, well rounded
Herring, well rounded
Nogueira, well rounded (great boxing, elite BJJ)
Crocop (as well rounded as JDS)
Arlovski? well rounded, great striking, sub game to boot, incredible TDD
Do you consider Randleman or Coleman any less well rounded than someone like Brock?

Lucario got reemed in the OT. The dubbing was for his own protection.
I respect you Fedor haters' opinions. They're baseless for the most part, but, that's not the question in the thread. The first instance someone brings up his great personality, you bring up his record. Why is this? Are you that obsessed with him? You complain about his fans being nuthuggers when, in fact, you guys talk about him like ESPN talks about Tim Tebow.
Do you haters really hate Fedor, or are you the most butthurt of the butthurt who are mad he didn't go to the UFC? It's almost like you guys are closet Fedor fans.

Herring well rounded? Yea but NOT on an elite level. He was never really a top tier guy, but no disrespect he's a well respected MMA veteran.
Nog's boxing really started to improve AFTER he fought Fedor, when he trained with Anderson, JDS, MAchida, lil Nog, JDS' boxing coach on a regular basis, etc; In Pride until around 2004, Nog was not that well rounded. He started truly improving his striking towards the end of Pride and recently has taken it to another level, TBH. His chin was much better and his body was not as worn down, but in terms of striking technique Nog has significantly improved after fighting Fedor.
Cro Cop was not a threat on a ground. His only real solution on the ground was to get back up. Good point on JDS, but his TDD is >>>> than Cro Cop's.
Arlovski was pretty well rounded. I'll give you that. But his chin is not very good.
So, we have Fedor, the GOAT in this sport, and he has beaten about one well rounded fighter?
|
You know he fought Nog in late 2004, right? So, by your logic, he was well rounded in that fight. Mirko was a Blue Belt in defensive BJJ. He was more than capable of getting up, which is more of a testament to Fedor's top game. Mirko was a Spraw n Brawler. He catered his game to fit his strength just like Dos Santos.

Fedor trained with better boxers though.

He trained with Machida, JDS, lil Nog, and Anderson on the regular over the past few years. He has dropped Schaub, Couture, Herman, and Mir as well.

He did turn it up in the UFC, but, he was way quicker in PRIDE, obviously. The first time, I don't think Nog knew what he was facing. I know who he trained with, but, the guys you mentioned, other than maybe Randy, don't have that great of striking defense. Not to discredit Nog's boxing, it's very good, but, he should have beat every one of them standing, again, maybe not Randy, and did.

Then you get upset. We're not bashing him; you're just too sensitive.

If someone doesn't think Fedor is the GOAT that is fine it's too subjective to really judge. No one typically gets upset when someone says Cain or JDS or whoever would have beaten a prime Fedor, we might get into a discussion with someone about it but that's what the forum is for to discuss MMA. But when anyone says it obsessively then it is obvious what they are doing and some fans get annoyed.
Me personally I never get upset, Fedor can take care of himself he doesn't need me to defend him

Looks pretty fast to me, TBH. People say Big Nog slowed down. I dont think he slowed down too much. But his striking has definitely improved. His overall game has improved, to be honest. How could it not, when you're training with the best?
|
Was a good combo and you are right about training with the best. We'll find out when he faces Fabricio how good he still is. The Cain fight was a major step back, whether he had injuries or not, it was a bad matchup. It's true he wasn't training with those guys, but, wasn't he training with the Olympic Boxing team?

My point is that some fedor fans say that Nog has devolved, which is not true at all. He has significantly improved and is better than the Nog that fought Fedor.
That being said, I know his chin and body have worn down, but you can only improve overall when you regularly train and spar with Anderson Silva, JDS, and Lyoto Machida.
|
No. No he's not.
Nog of today is not a better fighter than the Nog Fedor fought in 2003/2004. And him knocking out green fighters like Schaub and C-level competition like Herman does not change that.
