Jammed toes from Judo

Two days ago I was taking a judo class and somehow jammed both of my big toes during a takedown drill. One of my toes is black and blue, from the bottom of my toe nail to the foot, but theres no pain and I can move it fairly well. The other looks normal, but has a little bit of pain when bent. I know they aren't broken since I can move them pretty well without pain, but am a bit concerned about injuring them further. I've heard these are pretty typical injuries in jud/bjjj.........basically is this something I should train through or is it advised to take a week or so off???

If a couple of jammed up toes is the worst of your training bugs then I'd say you're doing just fine. Keep training!

well you have to decide if you are hurt or injured.

If you are hurt you can train through it, pain is part of the game. If you are injured then you will need time to heal.

Ask yourself that question and make a decision. no one on this forum can truly answer this question better than you can answer it yourself.

Something broken can be moved, the issue with a sprain is that is takes more time to heal than a fracture.

See a doctor if you got insurances, if not ... try to favor the other leg.

Appreciate the feedback.

I know it's hard to give input on something like this, it's just a little tricky cause I've had dozens of jammed fingers through the years, but I've never jammed my toes (especially two in one training session). At least with fingers, you kinda know what things you can and can not do, but with the toes you seem to be able to get away with more.

I guess ill just have to tred lightly and see how they respond. I'd just hate to miss training days, unless its completely necessary.

Just because you can move them does not mean they are not broken. You might have torn a ligament. You should get it checked out and consult a doctor, not ask on an Internet forum.
