I'll be picking Rigo.
Donaire doesn't fight well when he has to come forward, he is not a qualified pressure fighter. He likes to lure fighters into the heat into the middle ground, where he can counter in the exchange. Rigo specialise in single shots, a popping jab, solid left to the body and brilliant counter left cross. The fight will be boring and it wont be until the later rounds that Donaire decides he has to open up more. At that point I expect Rigo to start landing solid counter shots. Before that point, I see Rigo controlling the fight with his jab and body punching.
There is always the chance that Donaire catches Rigo with that left hook, so it is a hard one to pick. I have to favour Rigo 60/40.

Donaire by stoppage. If this was an amateur fight I'd pick Rigo though, but this is a whole different ballgame.

i'm rooting for rigs, however i have to agree with this.

Wrong about that and your use of the term 'sleeping on'
Everybody has been really high on Donaire for a while ...and for good reason too. But Rigs is just simply unlike anyone Donaire has faced, both because Rigo is a uniquely talented fighter and because, frankly, Nonito has not faced anyone dangerous since Darchynian. This fight will be interesting because Donaire has size and strength over Rigo's questionable chin, but Rigs has the speed and skill advantage...something Nonito has not had to deal with really at any point in his career.

I just saw this vid posted by someone in the latest threads on the side and it sent me right back to that place. 3:13 is my favourite part. I've said it from day 1 when I first saw him but he fights like an android that doesn't exist within our time space. He doesn't do the shoulder roll elaborate head movement, he just blinks out of time for a second then reappears in time to counter punch.

That's probably the best description of how Rigondeaux fights, that I've ever seen.

Has anyone ever come across a highlight compilation of just his counter punching and defensive maneuvers?

it is an awesome move, its nearly like he uses the rear hand as a 'jab' range finder. He did it in one of his earliest pro fights and got the guy to walk onto the right hand (lead hand) but instead of a hook he ripped to the body for the knock down. Dude is an exceptionally accurate body puncher. I see him going 'body snatching' early versus nonito to try and take his movement away abit. I am PUMPED for this fight, I can see how people might think it looks like the Narvaez fight but I think Rigo will be uncharacterically aggressive.

My 2nd to Floyd for ring smarts/Boxing IQ.

Interesting comparison you made between him and Holyfield as far as motivation
I think he can outbox Donaire, Rigo is just one of those fighters who are on a comfort zone inside the ring like no other which can be a weakness as well

Pumped for this fight.
Wish Rigo gets it but it'll put Donaire on the next level if he can beat him.

I think donaire will hurt rigo and stop him around the 10th. If marroquin could hurt him with a jab I see no reason why donaire couldn't do even worse to him.

I don't like logic like this. Donaire can probably hurt anyone and it has nothing to do with marroquin timing a jab.
