Well from nowadays perspective- this is stupid indeed. But nowadays, especially since TUF, fighting in MMA seems to have become nothing but a job... martial arts spirit, bushido etc are nowhere to be seen.
Back in the days though, to many of these competitors, especially to the ones form Japan and Brazil, it was a matter of honor- losing waasnt an option. True warriors, no more fighters like that which is somewhat sad.
Now all u hear from 99 % of the fighters is bitching how they have bills to pay and kids to feed as if no one else do. No more talks of honor respect and MA spirit. And they have it so much better than these pioneers. The money, the fame, the training camps and doctors taking care of them...all they have to do is train and fight and they still bitch
