you would at least be doing a worthwhile exercise doing the bench / leg raise, albeit a ridiculous way and with probably greater chance of injury. The quarter squats would do nothing and be just as dangerous

Agreed the 1/4 squat guy was just asking to be hurt.

Douche at my old gym used to do a floor press/leg raise... right in the middle of the only fucking power cage. Why he needed the cage i have no idea, because he was such a skinny fucker that he easily slid under the bar with plenty of room to spare, so it's not like he was using it as a safety.

Curling in the squat rack. With a barbell. With a ten pound plate..... only one side of the barbell.

i used to microload (2.5lbs) the left side of the bar when i benched because i was right handed. at the moment, my left side moves quicker (reaches full ROM) than the right when i bench. people ask me if i am left handed all the time. odd... not saying this correlates.
