Depends.

Do you prefer over the top WWE production, fixed fights and PED use?

or...

Do you like the UFC?

So every Japanese fighter Wanderlei fought deserved the title shot?

I always thought the "pride has more exciting fights" thing was a bit of an illusion due to the large amount of mismatches.

I dont really like one any more then the other, the over the top PRIDE production was nice but other then that i dont care.

Overall the Pride set-up was better for me. The crowd was better (60k people being respectfully quite with moments of absolute bat-shit roaring).

The intros and respect to the fights were both tremeandous, and the event intros were fantastic to for getting me pumped-up for a fight. Those big-ole intros was way better to me than just the plan-old smacktalk of the UFC pre-fight "hype". Plus the videos, though I do not speak Japanese, gave me way more insight into the fighters leading up to the fight.

Not throwing away Bushido- or Dymo-spirit warriors was also a wonderful aspect that the UFC is only starting to understand. Guys like Dan Hardy can go through rough-patches, but it does not mean they should leave the league when they always bring it in a fight. The UFC has become better with this concept, but overall Pride was better.

Overall, the aura of respect was better in Pride. Clearly part of that is Japanese vs US culture, but look at how Dana White behaves as well. That lack of respect for anything and anyone he does not like, as the head of the organization no less, is indicative of the behaviors we can see from the fighters and the fans. We see it here on Sherdog all the time as well.
