He won't. Each day will be worse than the last. Did you read the whole thread?

You know what I wonder about guys who don't want to fight who insist on going all out, every once in awhile guess; but on a regular basis, your just asking for troubles of a pro when your just recreational martial artist.

Recovery can happen. People just need to help out.

If we want to analyze something about Calvin, it really should be where his weight is in his stance. Jimmy threw jabs, and doubled-up when one didn't land. Still nothing troubled Calvin because he was in very good control of distance. His weight being in his right hip as opposed to the left (where Jimmy's was) has A LOT to do with that.

I've met Calvin and trained at the same gym as him at one point. My former coach once told me that one of his problems was that his weight was too much on his right side. Hence why Wlad KOed him, at that point in my life I didn't know what I know today. But what are your thoughts on this?

Unfortunately, it doesn't really work that way with brain damage/brain disease. Anyone who has seen someone afflicted with pugilistic dementia or Alzheimer's will tell you there is no recovery. As Sinister mentioned, you can try to keep them where they are for as long as possible. But no one is going to go back to normal once they start forgetting things and slurring their words. Brain damage lasts the rest of your life.

Yup. Its a downhill situation. Very sad.
Now Jimmy took alot of damage no question, but why do some sustain better than others? And even those that retire seemingly unaffected, they still will have some problems later on right? I mean no one retires professional boxing totaly scott free without any side effects right? Anyone knowledgeable on the subject?

So how fast was the onset and were there any signs? That's a pretty tragic situation too.

I can get my concussions in my fights thank you very much! Don't need to get my nose bloodied or my brain shook up 3-4 times a week.

I got into a argument at my new gym because there:
Boxers wear headgear and MT don't.
They said they were going only smooth with no head kick, no elbow, no spin and my point was:
I don't care for myself but how will I land combo on someone's head if all he got is a mouthpiece?
At Tristar if you didn't have your helm on, you bench.
A Gym shouldn't be a place to parade macho bullshit.

Not with this kind of brain injury. There's currently no treatment to get any better.

Well, I think that Coach was trying to say something, but not expressing it properly. Calvin was very centered in his right hip. But what he lacked was a distinct ability to move towards his left hip. Montel Griffin had the same problem. Once they go towards their left hip, they lose balance. So by default they always go towards their right. You show that to a fighter like Wlad, and he'll know he can put you in position to be disintegrated by his right hand.
