Flyweight Championship: Liu PingYuan vs. Zhang MeiXuan

Light Heavyweight Championship: Zhao ZiLong vs. Li JiXiang
RUFF Super Fight - Inside the Matchups:
Quote:
With the RUFF Super Fight set for this Saturday, February 2, at Hohhot’s Inner Mongolia Indoor Stadium, all 10 competitors are finalizing their game plans.
Before the opening bell sounds however, RUFF is bringing you inside the matchups . . .
Fight #1: Zhao ZiLong vs. Li JiXiang
A rematch of their RUFF 5 showdown, this light heavyweight matchup pits a pair of strikers in Zhao ZiLong and Li JiXiang.
Zhao ZiLong certainly has an edge in experience, but as Li JiXiang showed at RUFF 5, he has superior cardio, and is able to use his height and reach advantage to land shots while distancing himself from ZiLong.
While Li JiXiang will look to keep this fight standing, Zhao ZiLong may attempt to bring this one to the mat, where he has a slightly better ground game. ZiLong pummeled Kong HanDong at RUFF 7, nearly submitting the grappler via rear naked choke before earning the TKO victory, but in this Super Fight, Zhao ZiLong will have to watch out for Li JiXiang’s excellent submission defense.
Look for this fight to stay standing, and expect lots of heavy punches to be landed.
Fight #2: Rodrigo Caporal vs. Wu HaoTian
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Rodrigo Caporal is undefeated inside the RUFF cage, posting a 4-0 record heading into the 2013 RMB 1,000,000 Super Fight. While Caporal, a lightweight, is a world-class grappler, it was against Wu HaoTian at RUFF 5 that he demonstrated his striking prowess, winning via KO in the second round.
Wu HaoTian is coming off his first win inside the RUFF cage, a rear naked choke submission over Arthit Hanchana at RUFF 7, and after dropping his previous contest to Caporal, Wu will certainly need respect his opponent’s standup.
For Caporal the game plan will be to stick to his strengths - takedowns and submissions - while Wu HaoTian will need to use his wrestling and strength to out-muscle Caporal and avoid giving up his back.
Fight #3: Liu PingYuan vs. Zhang MeiXuan
The rubber match of their heated rivalry, the flyweight Super Fight between Liu PingYuan and Zhang MeiXuan will be a fast-paced matchup, full of dynamic striking and constant submission attempts.
Liu PingYuan, who won their most recent meeting at RUFF 5, holds a significant height and reach advantage, and has shown consistent improvement with his boxing.
Having won their first matchup at RUFF: Genesis, Zhang MeiXuan throws unconventional kicks and knees, and has an edge in aggression and striking.
Both fighters have posted multiple wins via tapout, as Liu PingYuan and Zhang MeiXuan have an impressive repertoire of Jiu Jitsu submissions, but both athletes have also demonstrated an ability to escape chokes and locks as well.
Expect this one to be all over the place, as both fighters like to stand and bang, as well as roll.
Fight #4: Irshaad Sayed vs. Yuan ChunBo
A classic striker versus grappler matchup, the bantamweight Super Fight between Irshaad Sayed and Yuan ChunBo will determine China’s 61 kg MMA national champion.
For Sayed, his game plan will be to keep the fight standing and avoid Yuan ChunBo’s crafty submission attempts. Possessing a distinct advantage on his feet, Sayed will look for the knock out, sprawling to evade Yuan and his cartwheel style.
Yuan ChunBo has gone the distance with superior strikers in the past, and employs his unique style to grab ahold of any limbs. Previously earning two submission victories in the RUFF cage, Yuan ChunBo has the superior Jiu Jitsu in this matchup, and will look to dodge Sayed’s exacting punches and grapple this one to the mat.
Fight #5: Wu ChengJie vs. Wang Guan
Featherweight Wang Guan has a reputation for owning the heaviest hands in the division, and his strategy generally involves knocking his opponents out in the first round. Against Wu ChengJie, however, Wang will have to respect both the standup and ground game, making this matchup an interesting balance of striking and grappling.
Wu ChengJie also possesses a solid standup game, albeit not as sophisticated as Wang’s, but mixes in wrestling and Jiu Jitsu abilities that will allow him to control the pace of the fight. Unlike his previous matchups, Wu ChengJie will need to respect Wang Guan’s knockout power and reach advantage, which are the only things that will stop him from securing the take down and grounding and pounding his way to the Super Fight title.
This matchup promises to feature lots of heavy striking, wrestling, and submission attempts.

Did you get to see how Zhang Mei Xuan looked? He's one of the guys I was interested in seeing hit the big leagues, especially considering how wide open fly weight is. Now it aint gonna happen for a while..

Maybe Ruff doesn't make it that long; crowd looks dead right now.
Ok Yuan Chun Bo-Irshaad Sayed now. This should be a fairly straightforward sprawl and brawl gameplan for Sayed, same as how he was training for Tuerxun. Yuan Chun Bo may very well be the best Chinese submission guy, but things don't look good for him. Little stand up and wrestling to speak of, he's fighting on a few days notice and he's at bantamweight for the first time.

Thankfully that's done now. Sayeed looked pretty bad himself -- if that was Tuerxun today he'd have lost. Yuan Chun Bo was doing nothing but pulling guard and going for telegraphed takedowns, yet Sayeed still gave up two and even gave his back once.

Jeez, he spent the whole fight flopping to his back and trying to lure Sayed into thinking he hurt him, but the 2 takedown attempts that Yuan tried, he got..
Very strange gameplan.

Wow, that knee to the body straight up felled Wu Cheng Jie. Wu Cheng Jie was dominating too.
The undefeated streak for Wang Guan continues; ground game could use more work, but he's clearly the best Chinese fighter after Tuerxun. I just pray Ruff is able to bring in some serious competition for him.
