Jesus... why did I know this was going to go bad just reading the thread title alone?

Of course, it could just be troll-bait and those jumping in to prove their e-coolness are the sheep in the situation.

Congrats

I'm a longtime veggie that went full vegan last August. You're going to look and feel great. There are tons of books and websites with vegan recipes, such as the ones listed earlier.

thanks for the replies i enjoyed reading them all. i just wrote a couple of sentences, because i didn't think i was supposed to write an essay on my life. Diaz was the first time i heard about an athlete being vegan. The reason i posted on this forum is because i thought a couple of you might be vegans and some of you might train mma at the same time.
i dont look like diaz at all. here is the link to my last fight. if you are going to wathc it the fight starts in the middle of the video

I know this is an old thread but Im a new member and wanted to give you my .02cents w/o a played out meat joke...

I went vegetarian for about a 2 years and still maintained a "walk around" weight of 195. It didnt hurt that my gf at the time was a vegan but we split in year 1 and I continued for another year afterwards. Its not nearly as difficult as people make it out to be these days, it just requires a bit of research and alot of home prep of your meals since you wont find a ton of veg friendly restaurants in the suburbs. However they are available...BK makes a veggie burger that you have to ask for specifically, not on the menu...as well as subway if youre caught out and have no option but fast food. Also the options available today versus only products like green star meatless hockey pucks have made great strides and great products can be found at HEB, wholefoods...even walmart if you're lucky.

So I ramble, my apologies. The two books I would recommend are Thrive Fitness and Vegetarian Sports Nutrition Guide. Thrive is written by a vegetarian pro triathlete and is filled with great recipes and other pro athlete bios and their meal plans from NFL players to bodybuilders and everything in between

Hope this was useful and good luck

Yes it is. There's animal product in fucking everything. Everything. You almost can't eat out at restaurants. You can't drink coffee (most use animal meal in fertalizer) or eat table sugar (most use bone to filter/cleanse/bleach).

Being vegan is hard. You have to read the labels on everything you eat. On top of that, half of what you eat that is whole you can't eat because they are using animal products in their fertilizer.

If you go into veganism or ovo-lacto thinking it will be easy you are going to hurt yourself.

Wrong place to ask for advice. Nobody here actually "trains". Good luck on your change of lifestyle, from a Diaz fan to another.

My mistake, what I SHOULD have said is you should give up on things you are interested in if they pose a challenge and might be difficult. Might as well give up training while you are at it....what with it being challenging and all. Thanks for the correction.

We weren't talking about giving up. We were talking about easy/hard. You said being vegan is easy. I said it was hard. Most people don't have the patience, intelligence, or gumption to be a vegan. I'm warning people about fucking themselves up, like I did.

to be fair, he didn't say it was easy, just that it was easier than most people think. but also to be fair, he was wrong about that too. i myself wasn't aware they used animal products in fertilizer and bleaching sugar.
