Thai's are not throwing elbows at each other when sparring with head gear on. Pretty much the only time I have seen Thai's sparring with head gear is when they punch spar.

Interesting, I didn't know that. So why is Thai headgear generally stiffer/denser?

Somewhat; instead of feeling it right where you get hit, it disperses the shock around the dome. It's not as significant a reduction like how it is in the air mitts. The air mitts push air to dissipate the force. This dome just spreads the force out.

Ryan Roy, he is starting a Muay Thai program at Leo Serao gym for now. He fought and trained out of Fairtex and worked their for many years at the Mountain View, Daily City and SF Fairtex. If you have any questions PM me or ask on here.

This is him at Claudio Franca gym, where was teaching for a few months before setting up shop at Leo Sereo's gym.

I've only been there a handful of times, the owner has always been friendly. You should give him a call and see what he can do for you. I don't know how much lower you can go on $35.00 belly pad.

the only think I would have to say about it, if you have a waist bigger than 40 inches your S.O.L the waistband runs a little small.
Agree with Markovich, they do run a little small. Just wanted to add that the padding is thick and dense. I have pictures posted somewhere. I'll try to dig them up.

They have so many more gloves than what is shown on the site. Next time I'm there, I'm going to ask if I can take picture of the stuff he has available. Do you have a specific pair your interested in?
