So I'm sitting here in my sweatsuit

So national no gi comp on Saturday, (Now Thursday 10.09pm as of writing) I have till midnight to register. I'm weighing 86.8kg or 191lbs. Divisions are either 91.5kg or 85.5kg. I fucked up and had cheap scales, thought I was ok but weighed myself at my girlfriends house this morning at 87.5!!!

I need help quick.

Do I cut which means fuck all food and fuck all energy between now and then. Or go to 91.5 and get man handled with a bit of energy?

Ive even competed at 79.5 so I don't really wanna be at 91.5, I'll guaranteed be the smallest.

Also really need advice quick a ive now got an hour and a half to decide!

Thanks

There's a 6kg difference between divisions, or about 5-7% of total body weight. Would you care if you were rolling in the gym with somebody who was 6kg heavier than you? Of course not: you're basically the same weight.

I think we fetishize weight cutting and spend too much time on it. My advice is don't cut, and spend the time instead eating well and focusing on your mental prep.

If you can make it down gradually without make it a big difference in your performance than go for it. honestly if you monitor your eating and break a good sweat during practice you should be able to get down to that by the end of the day. I can usually cut like 4-5lbs during a couple hours of training and sweating. but you have to replenish your self just dont over do it...

Good luck with it.. but always remember.. There is always someone doing the same as you when cutting weight lol

Thats teh spirt. Weight cutting is for pansies, unless you are a professional fighter and its your full time job.

Just do the higher class, give me a break that you will get man-handled over 6kg difference. Energy is more important. Sounds like you need to work on your confidence and psychology.
