For starters that's not a photograph of the mythical garden of Eden it's just an artistic depiction and art doesn't have to make sense. Secondly since Adam and Eve were "created by God" if he wanted to give them belly buttons without ever having an umbilical cord he could do that.

I went to my Aunt's church once where they taught Creationism in Sunday school. The school teacher addressed the Big Bang Theory and during the discussion said (paraphrasing),

"Some scientists claim the Earth is billions of years old. Now they don't know how long that rock has been floating in space. They have these theories about how old the universe is based on the age of stars. How do they know how old those stars are? If God can create a human being as a full grown adult surely he can create a star in the advanced stage of its development."

There's absolutely no reasoning with a Creationist when their beliefs are based on the existence of a supernatural being who can literally do anything they want to. No Biblical absurdity can be invalidated using this logic. I once asked my friend in high school who was the son of a pastor how Noah got Kangaroos on to the Ark when he lived in the Middle East. He told me that God could send a kangaroo to my front doorstep in an instant if he wanted to. How do you argue with that? If a person believes in an omnipotent being who can do anything then nothing necessarily sounds absurd to them about their religion.

A Creationist falls back on the power of God. An evolutionist says that virtually anything is possible given enough time. Everyone has their gimmick.

Hate the game, not the painter... or, I guess, the other way around...

Really though, man is flawed, and the painter probably made this as a commission, rather then as a manifestation of his personal beliefs.
