My Boxing Video

I uploaded a video in the of some friends and I sparring a bit in our garage. Got some good feedback and a lot of negative. I made a little movie of me doing some boxing stuff. Figured what the heck I might as well share it. With my situation I am not able to join a gym at this time, but I did workout at a boxing gym for a couple months a while back and picked up a few things. I just like making movies like this to be honest. If anyone with any real knowledge about boxing can give me a few pointers that would be awesome.

From start till finish:

- minor complaint but do we really need to see you put your wraps on for 20 seconds?

- next time try to put the camera in a spot where we can see your entire body. It looks like you are arm punching when you are shadowboxing but I can't be certain though since I can't see if your hips/legs are turning.

- your entire upper body including your head lunges forwards when you throw punches. This will upset your balance and make moving in the ring harder. It also makes you more vulnerable to counter punches.

- your uppercuts are two "wide". Try not to drop your hands as much when you throw them. Instead dip your shoulders by changing your weight distruction between your legs for maximum speed/power and for less telegraphing.

- tighten up your hooks. You are slapping them right now. Try to make sure your elbow is close to your body until the very last second. Slapping takes away strength and speed and some of the (meaner) referees might not count it as a 'point' even if you land it in an amateur bout.

- stop dropping your hands when you throw.

Thanks for the advice. I will try to work on the points you made. Yeah sorry for the wrapping of the hands lol I was just trying to make the movie cool. Can I ask your qualifications/experience in boxing?

2-1 in amateur boxing. My next fight is next month. I've been training on and off (off due to having to study in high school) since I was 15. I'm 18 now.

And no problem mate.

Welcome back Helioknows, glad to see you weren't scared away after your first thread.

Your movie was cool with a neat cinematic feel to it.

But if you really want us to give you a serious critique, just hit the bag for a couple minutes (without swapping to a different view/workout) with the camera angled so that we can see your entire body.

Apparently you are good at making movies though.

Badass video. Just keep training till you can get back to the gym.

Yeah, it was of him and his friends training MMA in their garage. He got ripped on quite a bit for it since it was more of an open sparring amongst completely untrained amataurs, but it was still an entertaining video.

^^^ Pickaholics abound here.... get used to it! Two points:

1. I though you looked good....

2. An opponent without defense would be challenged....
