I don't know why people are still accusing Silva of ducking Weidman. Weidman was supposed to fight Boetsche for the #1 contender spot, then he got injured. The way I see it, he still needs that top 10 win to get the shot. Regardless of when he can come back, he isnt going to get an insta-shot. Let him recover, have one warmup fight before silva so he cant claim the injury layoff gave him ringrust, and have them fight in Nov-Dec. People are too impulsive and think of the right now instead of the future. Silva wants a fight in spring so he can fight again near the end of the year with a good 6 months between fights (unless he takes a non-title fight in between at LHW)

The way Weidman beat Munoz was as impressive as anything he could've done in the Boetsch fight. No way he should have to beat anyone else as he is the clear number one contender. Who should he fight? Lombard, who looked absolutely dreadful (and lost) to Boetsch? Vitor, who just had a shot and had possibly the greatest highlight reel loss ever. Rockhold, who's never even fought a top 10 guy. Let's face it, Weidman is the clear number one contender, and also the guy who poses the biggest threat to Anderson.

If Lombard finishes Okami, make this fight happen. That's the only interesting fight for Silva.

Lol Weidman faking the injury worst then it is, so he can get Anderson further out of his prime.
He still gets destroyed with ease.

You haven't even seen Weidman fight a top striker in MMA in his entire career, and you think he doesn't need another fight out of his 9 total career fights? What is the big rush?

No, Le was coming off a TKO loss to Wanderlei and Rich is past his prime and not an elite middleweight anymore.
Weidman is undefeated 9-0 with wins over Muņoz, Maia and Lawlor.

Weidman should have fought Boetsch, the fight he was scheduled for.
When Weidman beat Maia and Munoz, and Boetsch beat Okami and Lombard, Weidman and Boetsch were pretty even in terms of deserving a title shot. The Weidman vs. Boetsch fight was created with heavy title implications and a win would have made Weidman's case a lot stronger. Weidman however dropped out due to injury, and thus he never faced Silva. It's not that complicated.
When Weidman returns after a year away from fighting, he needs to pick up where he left off.
