Attacking from North/South

After doing a seminar with Lucas Lepri and noticing that of the passes he showed, most ended in North/South instead of side or mount. After playing with the position for a few weeks now I've realized I can get to and maintain the position really well but outside of the North/South choke and Kimura I'm stumped for attacks. Youtube hasn't been much of a help for this either.

What attacks do you guys use from there? Please link an instructional to the tech. if you have one.

In no-gi those are pretty much your main options. In the gi, you can use all manner of gi chokes that set up from north-south and finish on side control, many using your own gi. T-chokes are one that I use a lot. You can also set up darces from n-s with or without the gi by transitioning to n-s from side control and using your hip to force their arm across their face.

If the kimura fails you can swing around for an armbar.

Don't underestimate the power of the kimura grip for taking the back, either. I use it like that a lot.

You can isolate an arm for a d'arce too.

And it's also a great position to spin to the back from

D'arce, no arm D'arce, baseball bat choke/paper cutter can be started from N/S and finished on the side.

I only really use the Kimura from there mainly set-up from Modified Scarfhold, sometimes I take the armbar or the wristlock from off the Kimura grip. My North-South Choke sucks but my Kimura is pretty good so I tend towards that.

don't get too caught up with the number of attacks... the two you mentioned are super high percentage and many top guys only use these from that position

for me personally i like both but will always look for kimura grip first, once i have that the options open up

from n/s I almost always go to the scarf side control and get a kimura/armlock from there. alot of high percentage stuff there.
