Compact Fairtex Lace Ups?

Well, the title is pretty much my question. I know the BGV1 are pretty small, but that's all I've seen in person and I'm looking for lace up gloves. Someone mentioned on here that the BGL7 is also pretty small profile wise (I'll have to do some digging to find that post). I was wondering which other models from Fairtex are like this, or are all Fairtex gloves like this? I'm trying to get gloves primarily for pad/bag work, possibly very light sparring.

I'm leaning to get the BLG6, just because it's a bit cheaper and I never owned Fairtex before so I don't want to dish out too much for a brand I've never personally tried. There was also a review on the BGL6 being extremely comfortable gloves, but I'm not sure of their profile size as compared to others. Any input is appreciated!

Fairtex is a great brand...Very high quality and the models tend to be very different from one another. I have tried the BGL7 and the BGV1 (regular and breathable).

I would not recommend the 7s for sparring at all. They are great, compact gloves for pads and bag though.
If you are not married to the idea of laces...for overall training needs the BGV1s are a lot better. You might also try the Golden Gear BGV1s for a fraction of the price since they are on sale and the quality is the same, but the padding is nicer on the GG, IMO.
As for other lace up models, there is a guy who posts here ElvisFan9889 who seems to have tried several different models, you might want to look for his reviews.

I think you should get the BGL-6's.

The 6's are Fairtex's latest fight glove I believe but you can order an increased size for training. So since they're fight gloves I assume they are compact. And, it would seem they are high density, but I can tell you they aren't going to be as dense as the BGL-7's, I own the 7's.

In short, if you have small hands and short fingers and like very dense gloves, get the 7's. If you have normal size hands and like really comfy gloves get the 6's

I had issues with the 7's and I was considering getting some 6's to replace them.

Ah, thanks for the feedback guys. Now I'm really torn... my hands are a bit smaller than average. I'm not familair with Golden Gear, will have to check them out.

I was searching the forums more about lace ups, apparently the Twins are also of great quality. Price wise it's better than the Fairtex so now I'm taking that into account. I've always heard that Twins are huge, I know the velcros are but again haven't seen lace ups of these in person either. Input on that would be good too.

I suggest the Golden Gear BGV1, since their quality is similar to Fairtex, but the prices are better. Twins will be too large for you if you have smaller than average hands and their quality is not on pair with Fairtex or GG. With all honesty, any Muay Thai glove could benefit from better wrist support. That said, the BGV1 BR from GG have above average support.

Well Gus, I went over to GG's site. Honestly their gloves are out of my price range, I can get Fairtex for cheaper directly from Thailand. In the past as well when I ordered I didn't have to deal with ridiculous extra fees like I usually do when I order from the US.

I really prefer to get a lace up for my next glove, I've mentioned it at the start of the thread so I'm not really into getting BGV1. Also I've read on here that the short cuff of the BGV1 offers little wrist support and that the velcro does not last too long.

I emailed Fairtex directly about gauzyhanz's claim with the BGL6 being the newer (and I guess improved?) fight glove. I'm curoius as to the difference between that model and BGL1. Hopefully I get an answer, or if someone on here knows please feel free to explain too.

Gg's old line are rebranded fairtex. they are exactly the same. if you can get the fairtex from thailand then that is the best way

So it seems you are considering the BGL-6, BGL-7, Twins lace up (BGLL-1), and at this point the BGL-1 as viable options. Wow man, you are particular about your gloves, but their is no harm in that.

As far as Twins gloves being huge, the general understanding is that their hook-and-loop gloves have a large outer profile but the hand compartment stays snug. The Twins lace-up glove is a different overall glove and is not as large as the hook-and-loop version.

Well, all these gloves are great choices, but I don't think you will know what glove suits you best until you are able to try them on and put them to the test, it's as simple as that. You may be making caculated assertions about these gloves through your research, but the reality is you can never be sure until you actually try them on.

In my opinion you have the most chances of not liking the BGL-7 as it is a particular glove in the sense that it does not accomidate a wide aray of different hands, and it is not that comfortable (but it is protective). The others gloves (BGL-6, BGL-1, and BGLL-1) are too close to call and would depend on which glove fits your hand the best, but that would mean you have to purchase the gloves first.

Twins regular hook&loop gloves are snug over the knuckles but in terms of width are on the larger side in my experience. Especially around the wrist. BGL6 seems like the way to go, imo

I don't own a lot of gear and don't have the habit of buying a lot as well. I can't afford to have a collection so I'm extremely picky when purchasing things, especially gloves due to me having previous hand injuries. I completely agree that it's best to try them on. I really wish I can. I've tried every store I can find here. The only Thai brands I found locally are Twins and Fairtex, and the stores annoyingly only have the velcro versions of these brands. It's not even the different velcro models, just the Twins BGVL-3 and Fairtex BGV1 mostly... and they're sold at such inflated prices that I've always found myself asking the store owners why and would get a lame response in the lines of "that's just how it is". The last store I went to sold the BGV1 at $159.99 CAD and that's without taxes applied.

I PM'ed sherdoggers who own the Twins BGLL, so far I can gather that it's similar in size as other gloves of the same weight. I also did some digging around and fightstuff mentioned a while back that all Twins gloves are generally modeled after the BGVL-3 so there isn't much change between the velcros and lace ups. For now I am leaning on Fairtex BGL6. Not really sure what's the big difference between that and BGL1, really curious though.
