Yeah I remember this, it was prior the Strikeforce HW 1st round I think. Sergei & Fedor said they were pure Russians, while Arlovski was Slavic.

Bring in Oleg for this show! At least for commentary.

Saying a fighter "almost won" or had a "near win" is akin to saying someone "almost" or "nearly defused a bomb"

Imagine what it could do for mma to have putin sitting in a sold out UFC event in russia

yeah Putin gets some serious respect for having the balls to support this sport that, most politicians seem to avoid like the plague. I hope the ufc does go to russia, they need to get the respect of the guys over there and hopefully it will help them find some of the talent I'm sure is waiting there.

It'll be interesting to see what Russian fighters they sign.

Lol, exactly. He even said in an interview before his fight with Sergei that he doesn't even like Russia. He considers them the enemy of his people... or something like that.

Really? I never knew that. Wasn't Fedor born in Ukraine? Or the Ukrainian USSR anyway. Seems a bit hypocritical!

It would be huge boost for mma in general for one of the most powerful men on earth to be seen endorsing mma. At the very least it would make put mma in mainstream news for the briefest of times.

Fedor was born in the Ukraine but his parents are Russian, Arlovski is born Belarusian and is Belarusian..its all a bit complex ...but yeah..pretty much any ex-Soviet state has big problems with Russia.
As far as Fedor being on this card, it makes so much sense to have Fedor in some special bout Vs somebody like Cormier should he win tomorrow. But Dana probably never wants to talk or mention Fedor again, he has even deleted any Fedor related comments on his Twitter.
