Wow I didn't know he accidentally cut his hand. So when he rubbed his blood on broomhilda's face, what that suppose to happen or was it in the heat of the moment?
My guess is, rubbing the blood on her face was fake. They probably didn't shoot everything all at once, and since the 'cool accident' of Leo cutting his hand open happened earlier in the scene, and was kept and run with, they decided to play it up even more later, with fake blood.
If Leo had rubbed his real blood all over the face of some actress, he'd be open for a lawsuit. Especially since she would probably catch 50 strains of european supermodel hepatitis.

The Academy hates DiCaprio. I feel like it's kind of a generational thing. People over 50 seem to loathe him while he is greatly respected in the 20-35 crowd. He's a great actor (arguably the best of his generation. Unarguably one of the best) who has given some awesome and challenging performances. He will get his hardware one day.
Just pisses me off because he's never the bad guy and he portrayed one of the most sinister bad guy rolls in a long time perfectly. Showing his diversity.

Seems that the Academy has always had it out for Tarantino which is sad because the man has produced and directed some amazing films.
Fuck the academy awards anyways. Ellen Burstyn who was amazing in Requiem For A Dream lost out to Julia Roberts at the 2000 academy awards. Seriously Roberts was just playing herself in Erin Brockovich were as Ellen transformed herself in to Sarah Goldfarb.
That right there should have sealed it for her as the winner of the 2000 awards BUT nope the academy has no balls. Giving the award to Julia Roberts was a travesty.
Nobody should be that outraged. Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption both lost out to Forrest Gump in 94. Apocalypse Now lost out to Kramer VS Kramer in 1979 and probably the biggest snub ever is Shakespeare in Love winning best picture over Saving Private Ryan in 1998.
Fuck them and fuck all the voters who get to vote.

I agree 100% great post man

There's also this idea Tarantino doesn't need an Oscar. While the Academy pretends to award merit, the purpose of the Oscars is actually marketing and connections. Tarantino needs no help in these arenas.

While I agree with you, it's not exactly fair to say Roberts was playing herself. BROCKOVICH was a departure for Roberts in a pretty big way, even though visually she was more or less reduced to her PRETTY WOMAN days.
Our surprise for Roberts' ability to do such a dramatic turn is what generated the buzz that overshadowed Burstyn's tour de force performance in a smaller film.
I agree that DLL pulled an obvious Oscar bait. Good bait though, the other nominees might as well not even show up imo.
At the risk of sounding ignorant, they seriously nominated a fucking 9 year old? I heard good things about that kid's performance, but it can't possibly be THAT good.

That is the problem with the academy. An actor/actress who is known for doing one particular type of role gets out of their comfort zone for a film and does a mediocre job ends up being loved for it. So yeah I could sorta understand why Ellen got snubbed because in a way shes known for these types of performances.
Reminds me a lot of when Sandra Bullock won for the Blindside. I didn't find her performance to be that great but since she is not known for that type of role the academy went nuts over it.

It's hard for me to say whether DiCaprio or Waltz was better. I enjoyed Sam Jackson as much, if not more so, than the other two, but it didn't seem like too much of a stretch for him to play that character/
