Just playing Devil's advocate, here, but wasn't Cain more or less gifted a title shot on the basis of a one-fight win "streak" over a guy who was coming off a devastating KO loss in another org?

Over three million people watched his fight with Dereck Chisora, handily beating the figures for the last two UFC on Fox events despite the far larger size of the American television market. It was reported in the sports sections of every mainstream newspaper, as well as by the BBC. (The UFC has never had this sort of popular coverage; the only reason it might would be a cage death.)

By almost every metric, Fury is a bigger draw than Cain Velasquez, and Dana would be a fool not to make the fight. Cain wins easily, but the sight of the 6'9" Fury being destroyed would drive people into BJJ and MMA gyms all over Britain, so it's something we should welcome.

Instead, we get a legion of idiot posers pretending Fury is an unknown and that the UFC is much too "pure" to stage such an event, even as we count down to Jones/Sonnen and GSP/Diaz.

Yes, he looks like a tit in the famous gif. How does Cain's stand-up look in this one?

Every fighter messes up from time to time. Fury punched himself in the head in a fight he went on to win -- I can think of three or four big names in MMA who have knocked themselves out going for take-downs.

These are the dribblings of a mental retard.

the last fox event peaked at almost 6m. the first one with cain peaked at 9. of course, these are both local numbers - no idea what the global reach was for either.

tyson fury isn't a nobody. what he isn't is an mma fighter and would have no business in the cage with cain. HE is the one running his mouth. the ufc isn't "above" such a matchup, but that doesn't mean there's much chance of it happening, and if it did, doesn't mean tyson would have much of a chance. he's a boxer.

Running scenarios through my head.... and it's like that scene in War Games.
Fury wins ever time. It's that jab of his. Cain seems like a great guy. But this ends in a bad way for him.

To the retard who believes Fury is a bigger draw than Cain, google trends says otherwise.

Its not even close. Cain is the better known of the two. In fact, Furys trash talking towards Cain has helped his popularity immensely.

Apparently, the best way to defend against a takedown is to throw jabs rather improving your wrestling.
