The stand up forum has evolved passed trivial topics. Go away TS, unless you have something meaningful to discuss.

Also BJJ and Sambo are derived from Judo(TMA).
Everyone thinks wrestling is the best base becasue there are so many wrestlers in the UFC, but thats mainly because the UFC is based in the US where wrestling is heavily subsidized, and collegiate wrestlers have no other professional avenues after college.

What makes grappling arts like Judo, Sambo, BJJ and Wrestling effective is that unless one or both partners make a conscious effort to do so, there is no difference between sparring/rolling/randori and competition. People are able to train all the time "full contact" against a fully resiting opponent.

Its still not full-contact. Most people when they roll arent trying to rip an arm off.
But generally I agree with you.

I've done little BJJ so I won't speak on it, but in Judo, I've seen teammates go (forgive the term) full "Beast Mode" when training up for a big National/International competition, with randori looking like competition with no ref, time limit or score: some pretty brutal stuff. Ukemi was the only thing that kept people alive.
And every wrestling practice was at 110%

It's not the same. In BJJ, you don't choke people unconscious because you have a safety button when someone executes their technique correctly. Else, we'd see lots of guys in crutches from leg locks and broken arms. Though they do get tender from time to time. Judo is very tough on your body even if you breakfall properly. Still not the same because you can control the speed of your throw and still gain the ippon. In Judo, you could technically spike someone's head and possibly kill them if it were on a hard surface. You have breakfalls to lessen the impact even when the throw is done flawlessly (most of the time). Wrestling is a tough sport on your body as well, no doubt about that, but it is not the same as taking a hard right cross in the face, a liver shot, temple shot, or getting kicked over and over. There isn't a safety button you can use to minimize the blow if its done perfectly and timed correctly.
