Do you prefer training grappling or striking more?
I've trained competitively all in boxing, wrestling, and judo. I prefer grappling cause I'm much more of a thinker and the way I see it, grappling requires a hell of a lot more of that. Some people say boxing is like a chess game but it's a term more fit in grappling.
In grappling, there are plenty of moments where you can just sit and rest for a bit wondering your next move whereas in boxing, it's pretty much just action and reaction and relying on muscle memory. Yea there are clinches but you get penalized for that. Pretty much no time to think in the ring.
Another thing I like about grappling is that it's much easier to notice progress. Not sure if I'll explain it right though but... If you never get a takedown on a guy and finally get that takedown, you know you've made some progress. In boxing there are plenty of shots you could land/defend that could've been lucky. Landing that takedown shows a lot more than landing/defending some shots.
