WMMAToday on Facebook:

Claudia Gadelha has broken her nose in training and is pulling out of the Esparza fight at IFC4.

Anybody have a fighter who can make 115lbs in the next eight days?

Scrap the title bout, or have Calderwood or Hyatt take a giant step up to Esparza? Go a step further and have Kagan/Namajunas/Torres/VanZant pull a Cote and jump from the prelims to main event?

Damn! I wanna see Esparza.

Possibly Hamasaki? She fought a few weeks ago, although who knows what her weight is with the holidays (the Japanese even celebrate them?)

I know Fujii is retiring but she just fought and im sure Esparza would like to get that rematch.

Both Ayaka and Megumi just had very tough fights. No way any of them would accept. And yes the celebrate all kinds of winter holydays in Japan

I didnt see Hamasaki's fight but Fujii didnt really take much damage, but shes probably happy retiring off that win.

Adding fuel to the "nothing official at all out of anyone" rumor mill:

Felice Herrig posted to FaceBook about the relative depth of the 115 and 135lb divisions, and casually mentioned that her sometime training partner Carla Esparza would be fighting Calderwood for the Invicta title.

Inside scoop? Simple mistake? Who the heck knows?

Probably safe to say that there are a lot of phone calls running through IFC HQ right now, though.

More official now:

Claudia Gadelha Injured, Out Of Invicta FC 4 Title Fight

Quote:
Unbeaten BJJ black belt Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha has withdrawn from her main event title bout against Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza at Invicta Fighting Championships 4. Gadelha announced today that she had suffered a broken nose in training and would be unable to compete on the card.

Gadelha and Esparza were scheduled to face off for the inaugural Invicta FC Strawweight Championship at the event, which takes place on January 5th in Kansas City, Kansas. The promotion has not yet scrapped the title fight entirely and a search is currently underway for a replacement fighter.

Invicta FC is now taking orders for the $7.95 January 5th fight. They have a [Buy $7.95] button on their main page.

I figured that this would have all been posted and discussed over the weekend, but apparently not. Strange.

Bec Hyatt Now To Face Carla Esparza In Invicta FC 4 Headliner

Gadelha shatters her nose and drops out of the fight. Calderwood is offered the shot and declines. Hyatt is offered the shot and takes it. 1-0 Livia Von Plettenberg is signed to face Calderwood.

Big shuffle for the main event, but I don't know if it will really effect the card as a whole or how Invicta will do with its first iPPV. Heck, it might even have a small positive effect: Gadelha isn't exactly a household name, and Hyatt now brings a short-notice/underdog factor along with her sizable internet following.

As with the past cards: all respect to Invicta for rolling with the last-minute injuries and keeping everyone who was signed to fight on the card.
