Cars like the mid 90's jeep Grand Cherokee and the dodge neon were some of the shittiest, least reliable cars ever made.
There are tons of American cars though and are certainly some good ones out there. The 5.3 Chevy full size truck and SUV motor is one of the finest motors ever built IMHO.

Thats why I always buy japanese cars. The build quality is way better and more bang for your buck.

That sofa doesn't have a motor, drivetrain, wheels tires air conditioning electrical system airbag system....blah blah blah you get my point.
And a "real leather couch" is like $2k or more here I think.

If you spent $300-500 for a brand new "leather" couch... you've purchased bonded leather which is not the same as genuine leather cut from animal carcass.

Lol. I was about to say. My much smaller leather jacket costs as much as that supposed leather couch. If you're looking to get the cheaper version of a model cutting out the leather seats can make a real difference.

American autos had long period of making shit.....predominately in the 80's - 90's, this run of making shit is what created the well deserved reputation. Today our cars can hang with the imports but reputations die hard....

This.
Even Honda is showing holes in their standards on reliability. 06, 07, and some 08 civics are coming in with cracked engine blocks under 90,000 miles. Enough came in that Honda extended an unlimited mile warranty on the blocks for 8 years.
But if someone told you they bought a 2007 Civic for its reliability, few people would think twice because of its reputation.

Most of the people posting about chrysler cars seem to have no idea that they are now owned by FIAT, and most of the 'new' cars are based off of FIAT chassis'. (the Dart being an example)
There's issues with every manufacturer. American cars led the pack with utter CRAP in the late 80's and all through the 90's/'00s. Terrible designs, cheapness for cheapness sake, and terrible workmanship. That has stuck with them.
If you go to europe, people will be complaining about FIAT, Peugeot, Skoda Renault, VW, and et cetera. If you go to Asia, people will be complaining about Honda, Toyota, Kia, and et cetera. India; Tata, Mahindra. All over the world people will be complaining about their domestics and they will happy buy an 'american' car over their domestics.

I have an 07 Civic. Aside from the standard Honda cheap creaking interior the car runs great.

I think right now Koreans are making some the best cars for the buck, they are new to the market and have something to prove.
