Things aren't as simple as you make them out to be. Fight fans, even the presumably less 'casual' post K-1 collapse crowd, don't have such elevated standards with regards to skill. You may find this to be utter bullshit but what matters most to them is name recognition. If, for whatever reason, a female fighter manages to make a name for herself, most fans will find any fight involving her more interesting than a fight between two unknown dudes. To take an example from MMA: 9 out of 10 guys would rather watch Cris Cyborg fight than they would a Scott Smith or a Jakob Volkmann.
Of course, there may not be a any big names in women's kickboxing at the moment but creating names is pretty much K-1s game.
Also, though looks/character are always a plus (just as they are for male K-1 fighters), it's not the only thing that makes a male fan interested in a girl fight; some find it intriguing because it's odd to see chicks fight. Some see it as they do any other contest; as long as it's spirited and competitive, they find it exciting.
