how often do you competing fighters fight?

Made the transition from amateur boxing to amateur MMA long ago and I haven't been able to compete often. This year I've only had 4 matches. There's just not a lot of events in my area (not gonna travel 6 hours or so just for some match). This pales in comparison to boxing where I was fighting every month or every other month. I've been having to compete in grappling tournaments or amateur muay thai fights to keep my hunger for competition going.

I try to at least have 3 fights min a year. If I didn't have to work and could train and fight full time Id fight every month or every other month but I wasn't blessed with that. It also depends where you stay. But if you want to actively compete more than 4 times a yr. your gunna have to travel. I usually fight in oklahoma at the sugar creek casino. They have a fight card with 20 fights on it every other month.

In California, I can get up to 6 fights or more if I want...As long as you're not TKO or KOd then you only need a month in between fights...especially if you find a good promoter that puts on events consistently throughout the year
