I already gave Silva credit for the last seconds of the final round. Otherwise. it was one of the most dominating beatdowns ever. I think that fight also turned Silva off on fighting good wrestlers. He took the rematch after avoiding it for more than a year. Now he's avoiding Weidman, who is a better version of Sonnen, in order to possibly fight Bisbing...a guy with zero ground skills and zero punching power. The sonnen fight ruined Silva and he's been playing it safe ever since.

I believe the exact same thing. I am a huge fan of Anderson and have his whole career on record, and ive watched all his fights over and over and the first sonnen fight looks very suspicious to me because thats the only time ive seen him being beaten on the feet and look sloppy and stumbling.
So i too believe Silva let him take him down so he could the sub.
Also if you watch like water it explains it a whole lot more.

Sonnen couldnt get Silva down in the second round so it was a desperation move.
Oh wait your a hater so that means sonnen just made a silly mistake.

Strange. I watched the very same card again last night. My remembrances:

Sonnen outstruck silva impressively, across many of the rounds

Silva has a face that simply does not show damage. I know many of the strikes weren't haymakers but sonnen continuously peppered silva, and nothing!

Best fight in years. Had all the elements. Will watch again.

But you are not giving him credit for almost ending the fight prior to that. Silva had moments in that fight besides the triangle. Also, your comment has some faults. One, you can't say that Silva avoided fighting good wrestlers for a year after fighting Sonnen because he took the fight with Okami. While Okami isn't as good as Sonnen, Okami was generally viewed as a worse matchup for Silva due to being a strong wrestler with stifling submission defense. A lot of people were saying Okami would have been able to do what Sonnen did without getting subbed. Also, the fight with Belfort was hardly a gimme and many wanted Silva to fight someone with good speed and punching power.

Another point is that Silva will always fight when the contract is offered. He had NEVER ducked Weidman in the sense that he was offered a contract to fight Weidman and he refused. Dana White has made it clear that Jon Jones is the only champion to ever turn down a fight. The Weidman fight was never set in stone among the officials at Zuffa. It was a product of fan hype by a few people on the internet. I would personally love to see the Weidman fight. I fail to see how Silva would be afraid to fight Weidman after fighting Sonnen, Okami, and Hendo. Sonnen is a worse matchup for Anderson due to his chin and aggressive wrestling. Weidman doesn't have the aggressive wrestling that Sonnen does. It is a completely different fight. Also, I would like to see Weidman fight someone who is not a grappler. Bisping would actually be a good fight for Weidman but obviously he is busy.

Stop finding every way to discredit Anderson

I remember this fight.

Anderson waited until the last round to slap on the triangle cause he wanted to entertain the crowd and win by BJJ for Big Nog.

It was a few years back.

They fought again and Anderson wasted Sonnen in the second round so the first fight was more entertaining.
