What's a team?

Combat Sports are not "team" Sports. You don't earn dual salaries, and your bills don't get paid just for showing up. Imagine a World where no one ever competed against friends. No two friends could bid on the same construction project, no two friends could wash the same car, etc.

Fighting is a Profession. Your job is to fight. For instance, if your friend holds a Championship and you won't go after it (which should be the goal, to be the best), then frankly, you don't deserve it and never did.

Hell yes. It would be fun and give us something to talk about over a beer later. Plus the shit talking would be a little more amusing.

Also, there is a certain comfort fighting somebody that cares about your well being. You will both stop and know each other will for you in situations where many other guys won't. Example, if you get dropped and is obviously out, you don't(at least I would hope so) have to worry about your buddy jumping on top of you to give you a couple extra punches before the ref steps in.

If anything, it could be fun and could probably grow into a friendly rivalry that could only make you better and motivate you to train harder. (I somewhat remember a thread about this.) Like how Apollo had Rocky, how Ken had Ryu, and how Scorpion had Sub-Zero.

A lot of fighters need to have a bit of primal hatred. Fights between friends, or even fights between members of the same race (let's be honest here) can have a tendency to turn into high intensity sparring sessions. True tests of skill and merit, yes, with the best man winning if the judge's aren't retarded (haha), but not always something that's worth paying to watch.

This kind of situation is why it can be nice to have "too many" weight classes; it's good to have an extra choice above you, and below you too. People don't have 3+ best friends.

Did it once and ended up losing. I kinda was a bit lenient on my opponent since he's one of my close training buddies.

What happened was both our opponents didn't make it on fight night so we had to face each other just so our training would not go to waste so we went ahead and said okay lets just get it on.
