Sorry but that is the truth. There are only a handful of farangs who are qualified to teach MT...think JWP, Liam, Giorgio, etc.
Even in Thailand, many gyms just want to take your money and screw you over. You need to know where to train, and which are the good teachers. A good fighter may not make a good teacher.

Tons of ad hominem arguments: check
Makes claims about other posters without evidence: check
No evidence of having trained personally: check
Continues to argue his point after having been shown evidence to the contrary: check
Methinks ringosher is the reincarnation of our recently departed friend jackblack1900.

It's guys like ringosher that are turning this forum to shit. I Don't specifically come on here with questions, but guys like Ssullivan, Saamag, Ryu, etc some times make points that never occured to me. If I think I can add anything I will, but more and more I find myself joining with these idiots arguing and posting shit.
I don't give a crap how many Thai words people know or how they know "Real Muay Thai!!".
I know several Pro Muay Thai fighters that have lived and fought in Thailand, and non of them give a shit about what nationality their opponent is or where they learn to fight, just how good they are and how to beat them.
Basically, this is supposed to be a forum for stand up training. Not what cartoon character you want to fight like or if YOUR Muay Thai is the most authentic. If it's not relevant GTFO.

Word. NAKMUAY, do you remember when we had a very heated argument about the viability of spinning techniques? Those were the good old days...

Spinning techniques are deadly as anything. I remember I once did a jumping 360 crescent kick and when I did it, somehow my knee hit my face, wound up with a bleeding nose. Deadly for sure.
On a more serious note, the Thais I learned from never made mention of Mae Mai and Luk Mai and whatnot.

LMAO!
Similar problem,
I just switch from a good MT gym (Tristar) to a more Boxing orriented place (UndergroundBoxing).
At the new place. People barely kick in sparring. The only bruises I got were on my shins are from people kicking it as a diversion for a jab or cross. I have a more traditional approche and pivot often on the sides to maximise impact instead of stepping foreward. So I'm stuck pulling off my kicks and right hand (I weight 220).
They on the other hand rush in with a jab to start boxing combinations and they dip low on body punch wich is nice in boxing and will all work in a sparring ground. But let's be honest. If your head is near my elbow I'm tempted and you are a sitting duck for kicks because you can't block when your hips are that low. I don't headkick because it's moutpiece/shinguard only when they spar.
I guess it will help me work on my hands. Some landed a few nice jabs squarre on my face. They have FAST hands that's for sure.
Now on you situation you should just do the opposite.
Start kicking and alot. To me the big difference in kick is how you place your feet.
I place mine in a V shape instead of the boxing lead foot pointing center line.
This way I'm ready to kick no matter where I step. Or without the step. My big calf aren't reachable.
I don't even shiftkick because if I do a right side-step next thing going is a left kick.
It's aways good to go out of your comfort zone to learn alot and improve but deap down you have to be comfortable with what you are doing. Smooth.
On a side note, yes this part of the forum turned into shit recently. People seem to go on witch hunt and ask for credentials over the slightiest thing. I was under the impression that. THIS PART of the forum where a judgement free zone where you could look and comment sparring video without needing to have been a pro for over 20 years. That place exist but it's called Ask the Fighters. Don't get your hopes high, Phil Baroni and Alan Belchar may have alot on their plate.

what more do you guys need to throw head kicks? id assume shinguards and mouthpiece (and cup) would be enough. your shins are not exactly gonna cut someone's forehead open under shinguards.
if your sparring partners are skilled, they will pull their headkicks properly.
