You'd be naive though to pretend as though American culture doesn't rub off onto other countries. The ease of obtaining guns in the states doesn't help.

This guy played Call of Duty so let's blame his actions on American gun culture
How did he do it if Norway has such strict gun laws though?

He and Klebold got in trouble with law a couple of times prior to the massacre as well.
Cho was hardly functional. He got kicked out of multiple classes and one teacher even said she'd "resign before continuing with him". He stalked three girls where the campus police had to intervene. Plus, his roommates had to tell all of their friends they could not come over anymore because of him. He sent them suicidal text messages to his roommates, and when he had a couple of meetings with the head of his department she was so uncomfortable around him she had to coin a duress code because she was so afraid of him. When he was evaluated he was considered, "mentally ill and in need of hospitalization" and "presented an imminent danger to himself as a result of mental illness".

Huh. I definitely didn't know all that about Cho. Good point. But, to be honest, I knew some pretty fucked up/weird kids in college that sounded similar. Creeped everyone the fuck out, said really disturbing things, made other people so uncomfortable that they scared people off, made people alert campus security. I also knew a bunch of social, "normal" people that, when you got alcohol in them, started saying dark things and threatening to murder people and crying about when they were sexually abused as kids.

Can you say "Yeah, this these guys were obviously going to massacre students"? No. However, it's obvious they were dangerous and unstable to the point were something bad is likely to happen.

I think the bolded part is the problem. Really fuckin weird doesn't equal mass murder most of the time. None of those people I described above have ever hurt anyone as far as I know (other than Frat idiots getting in fights). While we'd all have lived much, much easier with them gone, that seems like a slippery slope, legally.

We can point our fingers at many things and ban and prevent all we want but it won't change human nature

Yeah it doesn't happen every day there though ..
And I didn't blame it on American gun culture. Read my comment ffs.
It is partly responsible. Denying that is just idiotic.

It may be cliche to say, but hindsight is 20/20, and it's certainly not as black and white as I'm making it. But, overall, my point would just be there are people who are unstable and seemingly dangerous who are ignored. I think it's sad.
James Holmes is really interesting to me. He seemed normal, ambitious (Cho and Harris/Klebold were not at all, as far as I can tell), and more importantly, didn't kill himself afterwards. I doubt we'll ever find out his true motives, though.

Not saying this was not a serious and sick event but are people here in the states really living in so much fear?
I saw multiple people on facebook today saying they want to move abroad now because it's just too scary.

People being dramatic.
I feel no different for family, friends, or my safety as I did yesterday. Last week. Last month. Last Year. So on.

This. This is the single biggest factor here--something which Nationalized health care would help. We get what we pay for. We don't want to "pay for others' healthcare" so we suffer the consequences of mentally unstable people walking the streets literally in the tens of thousands.
Compound that with the willful ignorance of absolute morons like Clint Van Zandt (who MSNBC had on television AGAIN TODAY) who said after the Virginia Tech shooting that he didn't want information about the shooter being released because he didn't want to give him the fame and spotlight that he wanted...
.. so instead of analyzing WHY the shooter did what he did so we can try to prevent more of the same, we should stick our heads in the sand and do nothing. That's fucking great you fucking twat (Van Zandt).

No, I'm being serious.
It's more of a culture problem then a straight 'having guns' problem.
The gun culture, the war culture, the street culture in lots of the states makes for these problems. It's not simple as just 'gun control.'
I also never meant it doesn't happen in Europe. I meant it happens a lot less it Europe.
