They aren't the kind of girls you tend to want to date if you catch my drift.

I personally never had a problem since buying a TapOut product involves giving money to a company that sponsors a lot of fighters and promotes the sport. Though I seem to be in the minority in this.

From my experience, you are correct.

You have captured the essence of my disdain for them.

I have a few Tapout t-shirts I got at a discount store for a good deal, so do my kids. None of us are the kind to strut around, but I don't feel like I have to avoid Tapout shirts to show my disdain for posers.
I don't coordinate my wardrobe very much, just grab a t-shirt off my shelf in the morning. If it happens to be a Tapout shirt, I feel a little bit glad because it reminds me of what I love to do.
I've struck up conversations with people wearing Tapout or Affliction shirts. Some are clueless and some are knowledgeable. I think overall, Tapout has been good for BJJ.
Something that did make me laugh was a local TKD school styled their school logo to resemble the shape of the classic Tapout logo. I did have to roll my eyes a bit on that one.

Same with me. I train for 8-9 years and tap out shirt was cool back in the days. But I have to admit that I laugh at all the kids wearing the brand or similar especially at mma shows knowing that they don't train. But hell! I can be a la lakers fans and wear their gear without being able to dunk or fit enough to play a full game.

When Tapout first came out, as in you could only get it at shows it was ultra "cool" because it meant you went to an underground mma show. Now people here like to put tapout and "douche bag" in the same sentence. Tapout is as bad as ed hardy. For me, tapout sponsors/ed a LOT of young fighters and definitely helped american mma get to where it is. I havent bought any since they (skrape, punkass) sold the company but I still rock my old tapout shorts and they are super comfortable
Tapout is kinda like the gracies..its "cool" to hate on them on sherdog but I personally respect both entities for what they have done for MMA

well, mma and combat sports are kind of unique in this sense, there must be around 32904803948203940239480 soccer fans in the world, how many of them do actually train soccer for real? or even play, once above certain age, soccer is not the safest sport (although might look like it, its not!) to play....

I still wear my old sweatshirts and shorts now and then, super comfy and are old enough IMO to show how long I have had them. Had a large TAPOUT logo on the back of my jacked up Tahoe, etc. I don't have a problem with it. I used to sell the stuff (and many other brands) at local shows before getting into promoting. I don't like or enjoy the flashy over the top stuff, but I knew and used to hang "a little" with Mask and Punkass and they were/are true fans of the sport from day one!
Yeah it sucks that the brand went main stream, and then sold and is bought by a different crowd these days, but tbh it really bums me out when these two great pioneers of the sport get shit on by people who have no clue.

So we agree that mma fans wear tap out and affliction t shirts. And we as guys that train in bjj just quietly call or judge them as douchebag.

To call tapout douchey, when it helped build this sport and was instrumental in helping fighters plain survive during the outlaw days, is fucking stupid.
MMA fans are such hipsters nowadays, hating on anything that becomes mainstream or popular.
