The hell with that, You know how many nasty motherfuckers take a shit and don't wash their hands then touch all the bars and plates? I see people everyday coming out the bathroom stall and go straight to the weight room. But I'm at a commercial gym maybe it would be different if you went to a powerlifting gym and knew everyone there, then Yea I wouldn't go when I was sick.

High intensity exercise probably isn't a great idea, but I can't see anything detrimental from getting your blood flowing and breaking a light sweat.

I'm not sure how much squatting would raise your cortisol levels but glucocortcoids are immunosuppresant.

Hard exercise will do pretty much the opposite of make you better when you're sick. Your body needs all the energy it can get to fight the sickness, so taking that away for squats will reduce the amount of energy it can give to making you better.
