Digested fat is good for you, fat keeps your brain working. The fat you eat doesn't turn into fat in your body.

If I ate beans and rice now, I'd feel sick for a couple of days.
yeah, I been mixing it up with the food. Though we been broke last week or so, so I been kind of eating what I can when available.

Hey guys, stopping in for an update. I got a good schedule figured out, Training 4 nights a week, MMA mondays and Weds and BJJ on Tues and Thurs. Seems to be a good mix and balance for me.

My BJJ skills are improving, I don't get a LOT of taps yet, but I'm not an automatic tapout like I was the first month or so.

Also down 12 more pounds, so I've lost 50 lbs total so far, in around 3 months or so. Still have a ways to go, but happy that I'm seeing progress.

Awesome to hear man, it really is.

I know pushing yourself way past the point of exhaustion is just a part of MMA, but it is possible to take it too far. When I was training I would take 3 classes in a row, sometimes I could do it but sometimes all 3 were absolute killers. At that level of exhaustion you are very susceptible to injury. I would always pull muscles in my groin and calves when pushing myself too far. Nothing dampens your momentum like having to sit out for 4 days because of some stupid injury. Also, if your legs are exhausted you can't stabilize your knee as well and with one small misstep you could be looking at a serious knee injury.

This is very inspirational, though. I, and several others would love to hear updates as you continue to work toward your dream.

Thanks guys! The coaches have gotten to know me enough that when I stop to sit out a round or take a breather they pretty much let me go. They've seen what happens when I go too far beyond my limit and it's not very pretty lol

But they also know I'm not gonna stop unless I know I've reached that point. I appreciate all the support I've gotten here. It all helps, and from the encouragement my coaches give me.

It's even kind of funny, I'm still around 300 lbs, and still struggle, especially when we do bear crawls and drills like that. I can hardly support my weight on my hands. But I see these guys come in who are like 22 yrs old, and weigh 150 lbs or something and they act like everything is killing them. Maybe it really is, but I just think of how I was at that age. I was like 24 or so when UFC 1 first aired though lol

Well this past week they took the training wheels off. I did live sparring with one of the instructors. Unlike the 40% speed tap tap stuff I'd been doing. He was lighting me up pretty good.

It wasn't relentless, he said its time I start to learn how fast punches can come in, and what it feels like to get hit...and there is no other way for me to learn to keep my guard up than to know what being hit feels like. I got some good shots in myself. I'm just still pretty slow at hte moment, and tend to drop my hands when I start punching.

He did say my jab looks great, and I did good throwing knees when we were in close. We'll see how this week goes.

This thread is pure win!!!

I love hearing transformational stories like this. Too many people blame genetics, time restraints, age, or whatever, for being overweight and out of shape. It's great to see examples of people taking personal responsibility and doing what it takes to achieve their goals. Keep us posted TS. You will undoubtedly motivate other people to take your path.

Thanks brother. Stupid question here...what is "TS" I see people saying that. Sorry, I'm sure it means something obvious and I'm just missing it lol.

Didn't make it tonight. Tried to convince myself to go, but got out of work a little late and was just tired and spacey. Figured On weds I don't work, so I'll catch 2 classes back to back..I did that last week and it went pretty well.
