Randy Couture got multiple title shots coming off a loss and so did Chael Sonnen so it isn't new for someone coming off a loss to get a title shot.

I defenitely like to keep my pro wrestling and MMA seperate as much as possible. Which is why stuff like Chael and now possibly Diaz getting title shots grates me. MMA should be pure sport for the most part, or what's the point? If you can't sell a fight between the champion and a legit number one contender based on finding out who's really number one (which is the most important thing and thus the biggest draw in any "real" sport) then maybe you just suck at promoting.

Oh I know, but dont mention how the UFC is closer to the WWE than it is to boxing (which is bogus too) with some of the title shots.
Also, NO ONE on here got into MMA from PW. Everyone watched Vale Tudo, was at UFC 1 or Pride 1.
I happily admit I did though. My 14th Bday my pops got the Shamrock/Gracie 2 PPV. We watched it, I was somewhat entertained but not too crazy(my pops and I used to watch boxing pretty religously and he was interested in this Ultimate Fighting thing) He never watched again and I very casually would watch a video from Blockbuster (like a rental once every few months). I did remember Shamrock from the UFC when he got to the WWF though. When he left I saw a PPV ad for when he challenged Tito. Started watching UFCs casually from that point and got hooked for good watching TUF 1 after Raw. So yeah, I made the gradual progression from PW, boxing and then MMA. Not ashamed either...

Oh I know, but like Smigg said, if the fighter is popular enough it is fine. Im happy as hell to see Diaz get wrestle fucked and will be buying, but lets be honest here Hendricks deserved this more.

Its the same with boxing too though. One of the reasons I got out of boxing was the BS fights and fighters ducking everyone. I was a Sweetpea Whitaker fanatic as a kid and teen. He fought everyone (and arguably won them all sans Trinidad, he killed SP lol). Of course after his prime he lost a few, but I cant recall him ducking anyone. I understand wholly where MMA is coming from. It is still a fringe sport and it is doing what it can to get the best ratings. Smart business practice. It just irks me when you hear how PW is "fake" when the UFC does a lot of manipulating too to get desired results (not fight fixing though)

Yeah I said that to Gregolian that Hendricks deserved it. This is the fight business so what ever will sell more will get precedent over a fighter that deserves something. That's primarily why I still think of this as sports entertainment.

Agreed. Made a very similar point too.
It will be worth it to see this place explode when Diaz soundly loses, bitches, quits again, and then the backlash of nuthuggers on here crying. It's gonna be awesome lol...

Not to mention GSP demanded Nick so we really can't complain.
