Winning FG-2900 different versions

I just noticed on rakuten.com that they offer a different version of the FG-2900 with an old school logo. The interesting thing is that it is heavier like the older model and states that is for more shock absorption. I've heard of people complaining that the newer, lighter FG-2900 isn't as good at absorbing shock so I'm wondering if the one with the old school logo is basically the older model. Pisses me off that they're making the new ones with less padding and charging more. I mean they're already cutting costs by using synthetic leather.

They use synthetic out of choice, not to cut costs. Also, Blair Dennett has used both and says protection is just as good on the new one. Having used the new version, I certainly don't think it's padding is in any way lacking. Not sure who you heard a lack of protection from, but the only person on this site I heard say that has never owned or used any Winning gear.

Don't get all winded up buddy. There has been no compromise to the protection of the headgear and it has always been synthetic. Still one of the best gears available.
