Petro would expose Masato and eat him up with knees to the body, low kicks and counter straight lefts while moving backwards. Would be a nice fight though that's for sure.

if they fought 2 or 3 times, maybe Petrosyan would lose once.
K-1 2004-2008 were the highest level tournaments. It was impossible for every fighter to have only wins. If Petrosyan fought twice with all of them in tournaments, he wouldn't have only one loss.
Of course Masato could beat him. Maybe not in a superfight, but for sure in a tournament.

IF Masato understands footwork like Petrosyan does then yes, The Doctor is mainly a counter fighter, you just pressure the counter fighter, but Petrosyan knows how to move out of the way whereas Masato comes forward with punches, doesn't change angles.
That's my 2 Cents anyways.

That is the exact opposite of what Petrosyan has proven, actually. He rapes aggressive fighters. It's been proven over and over that a technical, distance-savvy tactician will always give Petrosyan the hardest fights. Pinca, Buakaw, Kem, Suds, Hinata, Chahbari and Cosmo are all good examples (admittedly I don't remember much from the Hinata fight as I've only seen it once, might be wrong). Kyshenko, Chahid, Kraus, Sato (injured, granted), Souwer. van Roosmalen and Hollenbeck are all examples of why that style doesn't work.
Granted, Zambidis did surprisingly well too and he is pretty much the archetypical aggressive fighter. Though I think Zambidis is much better than he is usually given credit for.

As I recall, Souwer himself told a sherdogger who attended his seminar something along the lines of: his initial plan against Gevorg was to beat him with pressure but that it simply doesn't work. And that's coming from Souwer, mr. technorhythm...
I was actually pretty impressed with Chahid's measured approach vs Gevorg. He wasn't winning the fight but definitely not getting massacred like I expected him to.

Man what Pinca did in that fight with Petrosyan is so overstated. He literally had nothing for Petro in that fight. Maybe because he's a smaller nak muay he gets so much props for that fight.

this..
2004-2008 tourneys were stacked with elite level competitions, and not only were they the best in the world, but they were at their prime as well...

masato's final year was not his prime
the last year of his career, he stated that his body and head had too much post traumatic damage to keep up
a prime masato would have a great chance of beating petrosyan
petrosyan never had any advantage over a fighter like buakaw or yodsaenklai(in their prime)
i think masato's style would have caused problems for petrosyan
aggressive, punch combinations, good kicker
would be a close fight

Yup that was me. He basically said you have to beat him with "c". If you attack with "a" he responds with "b" and you respond with "c". In other words, you have to counter the counter. NOT an easy task considering Petrosyan is the best counter fighter in Kickboxing. Nobody can out counter him and that is why he remains unbeaten.
