How hard will it be for me to cut 20 pounds?

I have an opportunity for my first kickboxing fight but would have to drop 20 pounds to do it. Have to commit now, but the fight isn't for 4 months. I know it will vary a lot depending on the person, but can someone give me some ideas on how hard it will be to lose this weight and how much it might weaken my performance?

I'm 6' tall and weigh 190 right now. I need to weigh in at 170. My current routine is to train 5 days per week for about 2 hours per day. I'm currently eating probably around 75% healthy meals, 25% fast food and junk. I'm 35 years old if that makes a difference. I dont know my body fat percentage. I have a flat stomach. No six pack showing normally, slight hints of a six pack when I flex. I look fairly average. Not skinny but not overweight. Not much muscle definition but no flab hanging off either.

Last year I was working out the same amount, but probably with more intensity. I was eating healthy food only, but as much of it as I wanted. After a couple months of this I weighted 179. That's the lightest I've been since I was a kid. I started eating more junk food and I'm now back up to 190.

If I clean up my eating I think I could fairly easily be at 180 in two months or less. But I wouldn't have a lot of fat left to lose. I'm worried about how hard that last 10 pounds will be.

Any advice? Think I can pull down to 170 and still have the energy to fight?

Are the weigh ins day of or day before? I typically cut from the high 180s to 170 to compete so if you can water cut the day before and clean up your diet now you should be fine. If it's day of weigh ins.....best of luck.

Weigh-ins are the day before. How much do you think I can water cut the day before and still be rehydrated and recovered for the fight?

have you cut weight before, probably not im guessing.
id go with maybe 8 or 9 lbs the last 2 days or so.
id probably do a small test cut.
you can easily lose 12 lbs in 4 mos, super easily actually

Heaps. I cut from about 74-75kg to fight at 67kg. That's about a 15-16lb weight cut done within a week.

Would you mind outlining the routine you use to cut down 15 pounds in a week and then get back into fighting shape the next day? What are you eating and drinking? What's your workout look like the week before? Thanks!

Yes. It's possible.

Cut the fast food and sugar and you'll be easily down 10 lbs within two months. The other 10lbs you'll water cut. If you had to lose 20lbs in a week you might have had a problem. Ask a wrestler friend how to water cut and do a test run.

Mate of mine got his weight down 25 lbs for a fight over a month.

As the person above said definitely need to cut fast food out completely and you losing the making wieght will be no problem..Diet will be most important factor.. You could diet correctly and retain a great deal of your muscle mass and strength by losing .5-1 pound per week and in four months and only have to cut a few pounds. Theres several websites that can keep track of your macro and calorie intakes..
