Help pick my first gloves

Ive been researching and looking all over the place but cant decide on a pair of gloves.

Im a wrestler and want to start getting into mma. I go to the gym 4-6 times a week and our boxing/kickboxing classes are a lot of sparring and not as much bag work.

I was looking at the Rival ergo pro but am not sure if its a good option.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Im about 195 pounds 5 11

Price is not too big of an issue im looking for good quality and am ok with spending $125 or so. Of course I prefer a good deal.

a typical pick:
ringside imf tech gloves
new or old will do

even ring to cage
nearly rebranded ringside
clamp seems to like them

kofg gloves
multipurpose and great price
your money well spent

maybe bill beaulieu
still like a broken record
i suggest his goods

rival ergo pro
I doubt is worth the money
but it is your call

IMF old > IMF new imo. Better pricing and, having tried on both, I find the older model to be more comfortable.

Since you're going to be spending time in the clinch (unless you're kickboxing is striaght up American style and not muay thai), I also suggest Fairtex or Top King. Fairtex BGV1 is pretty much a do-it-all style glove- at $90 it may seem expensive but I've seen pairs of them still functional after four or five years. The only complaint I hear about Fairtex is the wide hand compartment but that shouldn't matter to you since you're a big bloke. Meanwhile, Top King is a good mid-range glove and I really like their Air model. I've had a pair of Top King for 9 months now and can vouch for its quality (no loose stitching and extremely comfortable on the inside).

Hey,
Are you ordering one of the new models? I read your review on the older ones and it seems okay (especially since shipping is quoted at $12 only!). If its anything near to Cleto Reyes/Grant in quality/design then $99 is a definite steal!

After looking up kofg I found a lot of people get complaints during sparring and end up using them as bag gloves. Our classes are mainly sparring so I don't think that will work out.

That Fairtex seems like a good pick and highly considering it. Do most people agree with the above poster that the Rival ergo pros will not be worth the money?
