Query Regarding Rate of Weight Loss

Hi all,

Just a question more due to curiosity than anything.

I'm currently trimming down and on week 6. So far my weight loss has been pretty uniform.

Week 1. Lost 4lbs
Week 2. Lost 4lbs
Week 3. Stayed the same
Week 4. Lost 4lbs
Week 5. Stayed the same

I'm happy but I'm just wondering why there seems to be a bigger loss then nothing the next week. No obvious changes such as diet/exercise.

As I say I'm happy cause it's an average of 2lbs a week, I'm just curious.

Thanks.

Ye may find that when dropping or putting on weight the intial gains & losses decline noticeably more at the beginning of your training, pretty much the norm. Dont let it distract or put you off though.

Alterations in hydration, fat loss, fat gain, muscle loss, muscle gain, bone loss, bone gain, time of day, if you've eaten, sickness, stress and a whole wack of other factors affect weight gain and loss. These fluctuations happen daily and weekly, and it's why using your weight as an indicator of dieting success is not such a good practice.

Biological systems rarely progress in a linear fashion.

Thanks for the reply. I think the fact that there are so many factors makes this loop of mine even more strange. It could be pure coincidence though.
