But more importantly, Americans are used more as filler. And that filler is often fodder for higher level fighters, often Brazilian. Only decent fighters from Brazil are brought into the UFC. They aren't gonna import Brazilian filler, it's impractical. If they brought in as many mediocre Brazilians as they did Americans, it would be different.
Alright, I just got the stats on neutral ground. This is the record of Americans vs. Brazilians during the reign of Pride Fighting Championships.

Americans went 21 - 31 - 0 against Brazilians.

There are a few Israeli fighters and I'm willing to bet....

Jews have a rich history in boxing so I'm sure there are several in MMA.

That's total BS. Paulo Thiago was meant as filler. I remember how most on here were mocking him as a nobody and predicting Kos by KTFO ...and then he merked Kos. Alexandre Barros was brought in to get Kampmann into the WW division. Rafaello Oliveira has 2 wins, 4 losses - why do you suppose the UFC keeps him around? There are many others, you just don't pay any attention to them..
And why isn't Brazilian filler 'practical'? Brazilians have a notoriety, generally look badass and can be gotten cheap.

Interesting numbers; good job TS.

How about 2012? I am under the impression that so far this year has been much worse for brazilian fighters. Could be wrong though, like I said it's just an impression... it's not like I'm keeping track of this.

The UFC hires top prospects. It's not in their interest to hire mediocre fighters period. It would be financially better to have American champs. Brazil just has MMA in it's history and so isn't surprising to see good fighters past to present.
