To replace an injured fighter I might add. Every time Silva has gone up, he's done it because of injuries messing up the bouts.

GSP wouldn't go up to fight anybody and was quite content sitting back and facing a smaller champion moving up to his weight class.

In the end Silva fought a guy with good but not great striking/wrestling with little to no power. Griffin is not known for his chin and this is a perfect match up for Anderson.

I think you guys get caught up on he was a "champion" when that is not really what matters.

I like Griffin he is a good fighter and fun to watch but Silva was done a favor by getting this fight. If Anderson does not have to face the best why does GSP and why is he getting ripped for it?

So Silva is a better fighter than Griffin yet it doesn't matter Griffin was just champion with wins over Rampage and Shogun with a solid fight against Rashad?

Lets stop pretending Griffin was a nobody. Dude was champion and was legit and yes that does matter in the discussion of "Oh Silva only got easy fights!" And as said before its not like Silva called out Griffin. Thiago Silva was injured and pulled out of the card and Anderson stepped in. Let's see any other champion do that since apparently it was such an easy thing for Silva to do and he's so lucky he did.
Lets see another champion go up even to face a favorable match up.

I'm not calling GSP a coward or that he has to take the fight, but it seems hypocritical people give Silva shit when GSP had no problems facing the smaller Penn. Silva has even agreed to go down and meet GSP at a catchweight, a courtesy GSP did not extend.

I know a lot of people that are MMA fans and i have never heard anybody say that "when I think of Fedor I think of him as a guy that was scared to fight in the ufc" Nobody thinks that. people say shit like that on the internet so people will think they are edgy and different.

And I really don't think anybody will remember GSP for being to scared to fight anybody, i would assume most people would say he defended his belt against tougher competition then most champions.

gsp doesn't need to move up for his legacy...he's already considered one of the best ww of all time.

hughes never moved up to mw so gsp is no different...also silva is too large for gsp come fight night, even at a catch weight. and if silva says the mw division isn't challenging enough then he should move up to lhw and challenge himself...there's lots more fighters in that division who could possibly beat silva. Silva is also best suited for lhw but fights at mw cause he can make the weight, if he wants to challenge himself then he should move up and not challenge someone who's smaller and fights in a division lower regardless if there considered p4p champs...that would be like gsp wanting to fight a lw fighter because he's a p4p champ as well....i think its an easy win for silva due to his size and strking, he can make lhw no problem and should challenge himself there instead of seeking a fight with st pierre.

Children and propagandists say that about Fedor. And yeah, GSP has only had two filler fights as a champ, most of Silva's were filler.

So by that logic... to be GOAT, Anderson needs to move up and beat JJ. JDS can NEVER be GOAT. Fedor was never GOAT unless you say he was a LHW - who never fought at LHW.

I think it is a joke Anderson is wanting to fight GSP and doesnt have the balls to fight Jones. i am a silva fan but this is a weak ass move. Not that it will happen but it would serve Silva right if GsP somehow knocked him out.
