I'm not arguing that it isn't a cheap tactic, but at some point fighters have to wise the fuck up, and realize that a guy who's goal is to render you defenseless, might try a trick or two.
"Once the bell rings, protect yourselves at ALL times". What is so hard to understand about that concept?

Why don't you try watching the video, corky. The guy stuck his hand out to tap gloves, the other guy had like 5 seconds to do it, refused, so the guy hit him.
Absolutely nothing wrong happened here. This wasn't a fake glove touch.

You're not only wrong, but possibly blind or retarded. It's clear as day what happened there. He came out very aggressively holding out the glove touch, then the second his opponent went to touch it he pulled his hand back and threw a left. Pretty clearly his gameplan was to cheap shot. Maybe there was some bad blood or something, who knows but it's a shitty, cheap move.
Anyone who defends this is a scumbag IMO. I can understand people getting annoyed when fighters constantly touch gloves or even hug in the middle of fights, but touching gloves at the start of the fight is a show of respect. This is a sport, not a street fight. If you don't want to touch gloves, you simply don't extend your hand, or you somehow let your opponent know there will be no touch. This guy evidently didn't like his chances in a fair fight, so he charged across the cage with the clear intention of throwing a cheapshot. Thankfully he paid for it.

Ouch, you got me there.
People like you give MMA a bad name. The critics want to compare it to gladiators, or human **** fighting and it sounds like that exactly the type of sport you're looking for.
Thankfully tapout wearing douchebag just bleed fans like yourself are not the majority.

Not only is it a cheap thing to do; it's not even a smart move it rarely helps someone win, probably pisses off some judges so might hurt you in the scoring. It definitely pisses off the fans and Dana doesn't like it (probably just because fans and sponsors don't but still) so it's not exactly going to help you land a high dollar contract.

They shake hands when they meet.
They shake hands at weigh ins.
They shake han....HUG after the fight.
Why do they need to pound fists when the fight has already started? It's overkill, not a "show of respect". Like the 18 other times they exchanged pleasantries wasn't enough of a show of respect?

If you think that way then just wave the other guy off and then start the fight.

perhaps it is you who is blind or retarded. watch it again. he has every opportunity to touch gloves, and when he does stick his hand out, it resembles more of a jab than a glove touch. if he wanted to touch gloves back, why did he wait till the guy was right in his face? also, if what he did was indeed a glove touch, and not a jab, watch again, the guy throws his punch a fraction of a second before the dude puts his hand out to "touch."
if the guy wanted to touch, he had 2-3 seconds beforehand where the guy walked at him with his hand raised. he either didn't want to, and tried to flick a jab, or he waited too long, prompting the other fighter to go on attack.
this isn't even in the same ballpark as to what manvil did to rob emerson. THAT was a fake glove touch.

Dana doesn't like the glove touch, period. You touch before the fight just to avoid shit like this. If you fall for it, it's your own fucking fault, whether it's cheap or not. Actual rules > unwritten rules.
