Really? That's crazy, how do they still have shows? If my boss still owed me a check from 2 years ago I would have most likely stopped working long ago.

that you can make more money in mma, but not that the money you earn in K1 isnt enough to retire.

Lets not pretend that we have exact data here to base this on. But many of you are very naive. Firstly, getting prizes like 150k or even half that, is a thing of very very few and it happens once or twice in a kickboxers life. Secondly, the amount of time and money invested into winning that or being so highly placed that you can even support yourself with just kickboxing, that investment is enormous.

So after the state takes away a major part and your coach/trainer, you still have to pay various support staff and training partners, traveling is expensive, proper diet ...etc... In the end your left with a small part. After bills, family, whatever, youre not rich.
And giving someone as an example, like Badr Hari (whos is very very famous to anyone following the sport) proves nothing. He is the smallest, the tiny most upper tip of the pyramid, theres still the majority left who dont earn even close. And they also have to pay taxes, coach, traveling. What are they left with?

2010 K-1 officially died with no other organization to take it's place. What was he to do? Wait for K-1's return? Want a bet that IF Glory gets big in the next 2 years he will focus 100% on kickboxing?

Now that K1 is in a bad place I heard up and coming fighters do not earn a lot and they actually have to have a normal job.
The big name fighters absolutely do. Ray Sefo was getting over 1 million a fight in his prime in K-1. Masato was making even more than that. If you were at the top of the sport they made a lot of money.

Some yes, most no. Mid level / up and coming fighters don't make a huge amount of money. But legends like Aerts are basically set for life if they don't blow it all on the proverbial coke and hookers.
