Yes, until he has an MMA match, Vale Tudo or even a challenge match or Dojo storm then yes he is a sport BJJ guy.
Just thought it was silly for Cesar to contradict himself like that.

If I was Cesar, I would be upset but I would understand that Caio has to earn a living. What if this spring boards his career and becomes the main bjj coach for the Jackson camp? I'm assuming UFC money as a coach is much better than Metamoris money.
Does this mentality help or hurt combat sports? On one hand, loyalty is a great quality. On the other, are we holding ourselves back from being a legitimate sport? Imagine if John Harbaugh got mad at Jim for coaching for a rival team.
Also: I'm on board with the group that would like to learn bjj from Cashbill. He's got all the positives of the Cesar camp without the "209" mentality. (No offense intended re: the 209)

Caio was a world champ before... Nick trained with BJ, Jake trained with AKA and Blackzilla, Rhonda Rousey is training with GF yet they have girls in her weight that fight for GF where she does not.
Caio has his own gym and his own association. He represented it all year, not just no gi worlds (notice the huge CTBJJA patch at Pan ams and worlds).
Its unfortunate that Ceaser kicked him off the team but I think it would have happened eventually

So Caesar Gracie never trained anyone (Diaz) to fight anyone trained by Renzo (GSP)?
Personally I think this is all bullshit. At the highest level of competition alot of these boundaries bleed together.
Caeser was training someone to face a Renzo student and that was fine (if I remember correctly before the press conference calamity Caeser was actually attacking Roger Gracie in the media for daring to train with GSP before the Diaz fight that never happened even though GSP had trained with Roger before).
In fact, he managed to claim that Renzo and Roger were betraying him.
