Sort of. From a time management perspective, there's probably a lot of people it works better for. Plus, as you can see in this thread, there's a lot of people who think you have to go all out at the gym, and feel destroyed after, so for a lot of beginners it's probably easier to accept three harder, longer workouts, than more, shorter workouts that leave plenty in the tank.

The answer of what is "too long" or "too short" must always be placed relative to the person you're talking about. I wouldn't say that someone's training is "too short" if they're using 45-minute sessions, because for a new lifter, that might be optimal.
Basically, I echo Jake's comments.

Fair enough. I was simply unaware that a typical session will be that long, but now I know. 2 - 3 hours of heavy ass lifting is pretty hardcore, and I suppose extended breaks between heavy ass sets will contribute to the lengthy session, I'm just uneducated when it comes to powerlifting so i'm interested to understand why it takes that long.

I can't speak for Keo or jake, but I'll eat anything. Usually a medium sized meal, nothing extraordinary, Just something that will keep hunger at bay.

Just a regular meal, and a caffeinated beverage. Sometimes a smoothie, because it's convenient. But don't confuse it for something "light", it's not.

A massive shake and a pot of strong coffee, in that order, right before I walk out the door.
If you don't let hunger become an issue...It won't.

Exactly. I try to have some kind of sensibly-sized meal about one hour before my session, something with plenty protein and plenty fat, some caffeine and I'm good to go.

Fried egg (3-4) sandwich w/cheese on rye, 8oz of black coffee prior to mobility. Then 500ml of milk, scoop of whey and 8oz of coffee in one shake before I leave for the gym.
If pressed for time; a can of monster.

I don't know how you guys eat before you work out. If I eat within 2 or 3 hours of exercise I'm guaranteed to throw it up. especially cardio/BJJ.
