Squats at the beginning of the workout, deadlifts at the end. Unless you do them on separate days. (In which case I'd still do deadlifts last, just because they fuck you up for everything else.)

from my experience.

If your going to do both in the same workout do the squats prior to deadlifts. Both are key core multijoint excercises and should be done at the begining of the workout before anything else with the exception of warmups.

what are the relative intensities of both? Since I always do 70% 1 RM squats, I always do them after my main lift (so DL before squat) because I know that unless I am injured, I can handle the squats. If I were shooting for 80-90% 1 rep maxes on both I'd opt to do squats first just because DLs are easier to abort.

Personally I never do any of the big three on the same day.

DL always before squat, right after my cleans or snatch. Personally I find I get a lot of tightness in my lower back after deadlift, its not serious or bad, but its just a bit stiff.

Deads after squats. I've ran Marc Bartley's Russian Squat program before which is squatting 2x week. i pulled speed deads and 3 rep maxes on alternating weeks after squatting. Never had any problems recovering and both my squat and deadlift numbers went up. I think my lower back would be too fried to squat after deadlifting.

DL after squats (assuming it's the same intensity) because DL takes alot from me. After a max deadlift i feel like taking a nap.

After dead lifts, my abs feel like they are like contracted really hard. A lot of times even heavy singles will have me feeling gassed. And of course my whole PC feels really tight. Generally I don't so much after dead lifts, and I personally recommend keeping squats and deads on separate days to devote your all to each one. Really both feel super important to my overall strength.

But full squats are a better exercise or you so of you must I would recommend doing those first.

Be sure to pay attention to recovery when you deadlift they can drain you.
