there is nothing wrong with fighting from a bladed stance , provided you use it for what it was intended for , just to be in a bladed stance and get run over is not its intended purpose ,
anderson ,machida , barbosa , benson , cung le , ect... use this stance as it enables them to slide and counter forward and backwards at a fast pace , or it sets up the spin , there are a ton of counter punches and kicks that best suit this stance or style ,
check out the movements of the monk in the above video , the bladed stance allows him to attack and defend very quikly , most of the movements are lineal , true , but he angles off very quikly as well ,, the reason why i chose this video is that the movements illustrated are old and the roots of martial arts today ,
I allways though of the bladed stance as been more extreme then what those guys use. I tend to think of super foot Wallace. Guy like machida doesn't even use his front leg roundhouse anymore and mostly moves backwards not side to side as much as most karate guys. Jones seems to use it a bit.
Okay......
now that the dust is settled, now it is time for some bonus footage Just watch the vid, i won't say anything ;)
Not for critiques though, just something fun in between me beating the bag vids or beating the douchebag vid that will be up

Shit, man. This thread has brought all the ****roaches to you huh? haha. Nice sparring with the kid. Frozen hands too there haha.
It is a girl, btw And she is a Orange Belt in Kyokushin. That session was just taped purely for lol. I let her attack for most of the time and then just attack her lightly. That was just for lighten the mood of this thread up
EDIT: i don't know about you, but everytime i post a thread the first 2 pages will be good critiques, the other onwards will either get derailed or descended into a shitstorm. Weird

yeah I could tell that she was a girl, but hmm kyokushin in Vietnam eh? That is something I don't ever hear of. Secondly, after responding once to someone who doesn't see it like you do and is adamant on not at least acknowledging your position you shouldn't keep adding fuel to the fire since you get defensive and emotional about the drawn out, beat to death topics. Say your point, and be done with it.
Anyhow, how tall are you nuclear, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, i'm quite easy to get lure into the drawn out arguments like this. It is my tick, if you will. I am trying to refrain from it, but i could only make the areyoufuckingkiddingme face for so long before i rage beyond imagination.
In case you don't know what kind of face is, here it is:
And yeah, i think that's the only place i know in here that teach Kyokushin with full contact kumite. The rest is either Shotokan or WKF Olympic tag
I'm around 1m85 to 1m83 (depends on what day it is and who is the one measure it )

Here is 2 new vids. One is my attempt at doing the Tile exercise (which needless to say, i completely suck at it from what i could tell) and a new sparring video.
Granted, this is light boxing sparring with MMA gloves on with a focus on movement, angles and technique. This is probably the closest thing to old school boxing. For me it is more of a measuring stick on how far i've developed. The last time i spar with him (a month or two ago) i used to have problems getting inside and work my game because of my timidness and unwillingness to engage. But now after the spar with the douchebag i realized i am more willing to throw leather than just waiting for counter, like i used to do in the first thread. The results of it speaks for itself in the spar. I managed to connect way way more punches than he does. Of course, there are kinks that i need to ironing out from what i've seen, but so far imo i've developed much farther than i thought i ever could have been. That's very encouraging for because it will allowed me to train harder to achieve much more down the road. For the first time, i actually see the fruit of my training, if you will
FYI, from what i've known the Japanese guy had trained and competed in MMA before, so he isn't someone who unfamiliar with MMA striking. So it is not like when i spar with the Korean dude
Anyway, here's the two vids. Feel free to drop any critiques or comments. For the sparring vid I know it is not hard sparring, but at least i get a chance to train and apply what i've learn in a live context
BTW, anyone here know how to perverse vid quality when upload to youtube? My vid always look good in laptop, but always in lower quality when uploaded.

Since you are using bare knuckle stance (as long as I understood), maybe you would like to use your hands to block a bit more- same as holding mits for someone.
I think the stance you are using if fine, but your style would improve drastically with some footwork- at the moment it seems quite difficult for you to throw right hand without putting yourself in danger.
Have you consider using overhands?
You reaaaaaally should be sparring with gloves so that you can hit with some element of power to provide feedback. You can use smaller oz if you want...10 or whatever to help with the whole "big glove" thing. But seriously, the way you guys are going there...might as well not even worry about gloves.

For now, no. I ought to get better with basic punches first, before trying other.
And yeah, for the right hand (you mean the jab?) i am still working on perfecting it. When it is done i should be able to punch while at the same time remove myself from the line of fire.

I always remember your phrase about this: "pussy footing" lol. Anyway i know that. I should be able to get some harder sparring next week with bigger gloves so don't you worry. This is just something else in between that to reinforce my techniques, that's all.
