That first match is one of the weirdest things I've seen.

This was a pretty well run tournament overall. I had to wait a while for my division to start due to a very large division running on the mat before it, but once it was called we ran through it very fast. All the mats were working all the time, refs seemed to do a pretty decent job on the whole, though I didn't get all the points I should have in my last match (not a big deal ultimately as I took 1st with all subs).

Great job by the Denver Judo folks running the tables, they obviously knew what they were doing and kept things running smoothly.

First match: what is that meathead doing? the fact that he seemed surprised he was being DQ'ed made me laugh.

Second match: I can tell you are a bottom player, but you should really work on your top pressure. That dude would have been no match for you if you were of equal strengths. The drop seio is one that i use a lot and you should talk to some judo guys about finishing better. i like to come up in a teepee type stance when i get them over my shoulder to make sure/help prevent the back take. flower sweeps and pendulum sweeps are you friend for someone with no posture. omoplatas and arm crushes would've helped you out, even as just a threat. you should also talk to your instructor about deep half.

good job though. congrats on having the courage to compete.

In the second match the guy was giving you huge openings by reaching around your head like that when he was in your guard, but you rushed too much with the armbar attempt without securing the position. Your attacks from your guard were too "straight on." You brought your legs up no problem, but you had no angle, so everything was loose and he was just able to slip out. I have no idea how you managed to lose mount and just fall over from side control. Work on your base I guess?

What division was this?

Thanks guys. I went for an armbar from mount when i was gassed and he slipped it so i lost the mount which was a mistake. Im usually really good at drop seoi nage but his head just managed to save him from going over. Yeah I am a bottom player but that led to my downfall with the second match because of the loss by points. I wasn't thinking about the omoplata at the time either but I will definitely keep attacking and create some more angles from inside the guard.

Allan: I also did hit a nice pendulum sweep near the end which scored me 2 points.

Yeah I was wondering what the hell he was doing when he picked me up when i locked up the triangle. He was worried about being tapped that is for sure.

It was the novice 155-169.9 lb division mens no gi.

2nd tournament i have competed in. last time i competed was may 7th of 2011 which was the last time i trained consistently. Recently I havent had a job but have been training once a week with some blue belts and purple belts at the CSU BJJ club in fort collins.

Ah, I went back and watched it. Not trying to be a detractor by any means, but it was a mix of him falling over and a pendulum sweep. i think you should drill it hard and make it one of your go-to sweeps. good job again
